wow, sign of the times.

as I don't talk about it, my family is unique in some ways. my mom, with her high blood pressure and bad knees is, well, the member of her siblings (she has 2 surviving sisters now) in the best shape. my one aunt ahs Wilson's Disease (her body does not eliminate copper....oh, BTW, corn is the only food with no...

Not much here to show the sign of the times. Except maybe the strikes going on at Texas refineries. If our plant guys strike I get to camp out in the plant and keep the place running.

I'm hoping to avoid any kind of themed room biggrin

time for another blog....why? because I want to.

so what can i say? last week, since I had a day off right before my overnight shift (as well as getting out early the day before), I decided to clean up downstairs. here's the deal.....

our house really lacks storage space. add to that the fact that my step-father and mother are pack rats who won't...

ahh, the joys of upstate New York. yesterday (Friday), we had a high of 41 F. today, our high is about 17 F. yup, we had about 25 F drop in a day! to go from F (Fahrenheit) to C (Celsius), use the following formula (yes, I was a science geek):

subtract 32 from the F temperature.
multiply that answer by 5.
divide that answer...

that would be impossible, as our parents live an hour away and they are older so I would never think to put them under that kinda stress every three weeks!! I even feel bad for asking for help every few months....

well, I've taken a minor break from job searching. at Wegmans, while I was scheduled only for 22 1/2 hours this past week, this following happened on Monday:

a phone call....want 4 hours on Wednesday? sure! that brings me up to 26 1/2 hours. it might be show for dough....meaning $1 an hour extra.

later that day.....another phone call. someone didn't show up. you start...

I'm a huge Marvel Comics fan regardless, but I agree that it's amazing how the media can shape things. To a certain extent the majority of the population are so impressionable.

Thank you for your kind words on the picture in my blog.

Good luck with all of the extra hours and what not..

I think you may be right.
That would explain my behavior and the lack of coping ability with loss.
The history would boggle your mind, even with all of you training.

well, I'm pretty much guessing that the latest job I applied for (Residence Hall Director at SUNY Canton) is not in the cards for me. the job posting has been pulled from the website. I think as of today. so that's job 20-something (perhaps in the 30's now) that I've applied for and was rejected for as of last summer. yeah, this job searching crap...

so today, some free time, no working (and did not put my name down to be called in). I slept, am doing laundry now, and decided to finish building my computer desk.

you see, when I first got my computer desk, I got most put together. however, there are back parts that need to be nailed on. thin backing walls basically. since my step-father was...

Three printers eeek I forgot you're a gaget freak tongue biggrin I like to leave the backs of stuff like that open ... unless it adds structural integrity, but then again that's nothing a couple of well hidden 2x4s and brackets wont fix biggrin I use a big old butcher block table with a table mounted on the backside for the printer, and six drawers added ... all with a matching natural finish smile

well, enough of the rant. thanks for the comments....I'll be working on replying to everyone over the next week. yes, I read comments and journals. I might not respond, though....for a few reasons:

1. if I have nothing really to say, I'm not saying a word.

2. I don't just "respond". I put thought into things. if you're wondering why, read about introverts. we really...

huge, unhappy, bitchy whiney rant, you're warned.

so, today, I got the call from Spencerport. as a way of keeping track, so far, for jobs I've applied for in the past 8 months or so (since around April 2008), I have:

16 full time school counselor positions (actually, that's just districts, some districts I applied to for more than one job).
at least 2 other...

Are there still opportunities for work in the inner cities? Seems like awhile back you could get work if you were willing to relocate to some of the "hot zones" for public schools and there was actually funding available to help with relocation costs and also signing bonuses. I'm not sure how you would go about finding out about that...wasn't it through Americorps or something? Obviously that might not be ideal for location but it might be the chance to get your experience so that you can get ahead of the "need experience to get a job" conundrum.

*crosses fingers* kiss kiss

well, sitting here today, I've heard nothing about the Spencerport job I interviewed for before Christmas. this kind of sucks, the entire waiting game. seriously.

however, I did find out that someone I work with knows people there. in fact, she refers to the one Assistant Principal who interviewed me as her uncle. he's a family friend. so she's putting in a good word for...
