well, I've taken a minor break from job searching. at Wegmans, while I was scheduled only for 22 1/2 hours this past week, this following happened on Monday:
a phone call....want 4 hours on Wednesday? sure! that brings me up to 26 1/2 hours. it might be show for dough....meaning $1 an hour extra.
later that day.....another phone call. someone didn't show up. you start when you get here. that shift lasted for 5 1/2 hours. and show for dough again. so I'm up to 31 1/2 hours.
hmmm....they want part-timers at 32 hours max.
I'm approaching that.....and I have 2 shifts left. mind you, one only counts for 1/2 hour (it starts at 11:30 PM on Saturday). the Friday, however....I might even tack on an extra 1/2 hour there. yup, 32 hours here I come!
so what else? interesting about the possible contact. then again, this co-worker is the one that basically bitches about any and everything. to the point where one guy wears gun mufflers over his ears. yes, that nnoying.
and things have been interesting in the US recently. with the end of Bush's 8 years as President and the start of Barrack Obama's term as President....I have not seen the country so excited. seriously. people today are buying the paper....why? because they see it as a collector's item. history being made.
freaking Spider-Man 583 had a Barrack Obama cover....the first printing (last week) sold out. on ebay, it averages about $80. the 2nd Printing came out today and the 3rd Printing has commenced! damn.....so basically Marvel Comics has sold 3 times the amount of one of their top books by having Barrack Obama in it? and why did they do that? because Obama is a big Spider-Man fan. so what does that mean?
so what does that mean? well, as some very insightful and intelligent members here (not saying any names....>cough cough< Tunnel_Vision) have pointed out, the media and perception has a huge impact on things. what is the one phrase...."Perception is reality." there exists with this excitement a great potential. now its time for those in charge, IE Obama and the Federal Government, to realize this and use it to their advantage. things like getting people back to work. things like holding people accountable for their actions (both big banks and average indivdiuals). you know....don't let a CEO who bankrupts his company get paid $10 million for, well, failing at his job. and make sure the hardworking person gets the help, while letting the person who lied to get something they wanted (but could not afford) not get away with it. yeah, guess I'm vindictive that way, but hey, I can't afford a Jeep Grand Cherokee. so why should I lie to get one? when I could buy a new car, I went with a Dodge Neon because that is what I could afford.
well, enough of that...time to "attack" and organize the room downstairs. it has quite a bit of my stuff in it. and stuff from everyone else using it as storage. so time to organize. so if you don't hear from me the next few days....I might have been buried under a pile of bins somewhere!

I cant believe the job stuff is so crazy. I guess this economic stuff isnt helping either.
