I'm working on a dream band that is...something else entirely. It will take me a couple of days to perfect. Be patient. This one will...it will count as 3 or 4 dream bands.

There is actually a reason I didnt do a dream band yesterday. Aside from Zappa, I was also obsessing on Cant Buy A Thrill. For those of you who know not of what I write, its like this I FUCKING LOVE STEELY DAN!!! Not the newer stuff, but the old stuff. I was ashamed and embarrassed to say this on a goth-punk-emo site (does anyone...

Hope things are better tomorrow! We're on the brink of a Long weekend Cheech!

If I held off writing just because I was lacking interesting or good things to say, I'd never write at all.
I mentioned before that Publisher's Weekly uses odd words. They used "ludic" in a poetry book review and said "AHA!! A typo!" Nope. It exists. the dictionary says it means "playful". LUDIC? Okay.

If I were a mental health professional I might think all these dream bands say something about you. But I'm not, so never mind.

I got my other interlibrary loan today. Ive had Contempt, which basically compiles contempt citations from the Chicago Seven Trial, and of those I only really read Bobby Seales. Judge Hoffman is SO dumb to him. He keeps saying Kunstler is his attorney, and Seale keeps yelling that he is not being represented because he does NOT have his attorney, and Kunstler keeps saying Im...

ba-------by...baby snakes. I saw that a few years ago.
I like when that dude is molesting the plastic doll. Funny shit. You know, the original version of that movie was, I think, about 10 hours long, or something like that.
true???
"Won't ya sit on my face, where's my waitress?"-Lonesome Cowboy Bill....200 Motels.

I'm not remotely depressed...but I have little to say tonight. Today I went biking with a friend (first exercise in ages. Months?), tried to watch golf with my dad but he only came in at the very last part (I understand, from the commentators, that Mike Weir is a "national hero" in Canada; I'll have to have Rosalyn or Telesis confirm whether their hero is...

Yup! Mike Weir is definitely my hero! Who is Mike Weir again? Hee!
I'm sorry you didn't get a chance to watch the deal with your Dad. That kind of thing is kind of important from time to time.
Rosalyn. Another fellow canadian, eh? I think I'll have to make a quick stop by her page and see what she's all aboot!

Re: Drop a Dime on Huggy Bear -- Oh my god! I get to be in a rap group inspired by Starsky and Hutch! Yaaayy! Okay, can I be like Ms Dynamite?
Re: Unopened empty soda cans -- I've never actually opened one. I think I'm scared to do that. What if it's like Pandora's box, huh?
April Tuna would most definitely be into pegging. No doubt about it.
Also, I will take a picture of myself while wearing my pseudo-cat's eyes Fossil sunglasses and smiling. This will happen later in the week. It will be my profile picture if I look half as hot as I look in the current one. And saying I look hot under any circumstances is a huge step for me. I used to think I was fugly.

So I got Franchise's second Morphine package today. CDs that is. Nothing drug-related with Franchise, no... so I have it on MusicMatch right now. Sounds very good for a little hand-held recorder; as I told him earlier, no more bass-heavy fidelity than standing in an average club show.

Awww, I'm behind on journals. I see that I get to be in a band with Faith!!!!!!!! That might be a problem, in a Fleetwood Mac Behind the Music sort of way. I mean, we're going to have really great, violent sex, like, all the time, Faithy and I, but it's going to be an emotionally turbulent relationship. We'll break up all the time. But our band will put out lots of reunion albums after we break up because the tension between Faith and me is way too great.

The "T" in Capt. James T Kirk, stand for Tiberius....
BTW, catch the "Amazing Mr. Bickford." Zappa's claymation opus.
Oh yeah, and "Make a Jazz Noise Here." another late Zappa live masterpiece.
Oh yeah, and don't forget "Jazz From Hell." The first instrumental album to ever get a "parental advisory" sticker.
Oh yeah, and the new solo album by Vicentico, the lead singer of Los Fabulosos Cadillacs.
Oh yeah, one more thing.....

I have to really make a conscience effort to get some more Zappa. All I have is the Mothers first album! Unbelievable! I get in shit from my friends all the time for it, so this has got to stop.
*makes mental note - pick up some Zappa very soon*
Their are so many albums/bands that I have stock pilled in my head, I sometimes find it overwhelming. I seem to notice this most in record shops. I'll run in all excited and by the time I've skipped around the store two or three times, I can't ever remember what my intentions were in the first place! Ah well, I least I don't walk out empty handed. That would just be wrong!

I've thought about this for a few minutes-- I want to answer you guys' posts and journals, and look around boards. I can't do that and post a bigass thing here and get enough sleep tonight. I promise TWO dream bands tomorrow (they are, in fact, mostly formed)...

Fave Zappa song?
Mine has to be either "Bobby Brown Goes Down", or "Joe's Garage".
YO LA TENGO!!! One of the best indie bands off all time, period.
As for solos:
Metallica's "One" has always beenone of my favorite solo, for some reason. It's just so recognizable, every time I hear it. But anything Rick Nielson did for Cheap Trick is utter genius, as far as I'm concerned.
Or Maybe the solo in Radiohead's "Just", because I love it so...yeah, that's probably my fave solo, off the top of my head.

I try avoid "mindless headbanging guitar solos" whenever possible, so I would have to say that my favorites would be the ones I've never heard. I tend to like guitar solos of a more emotional, less technical and surely non-headbanging nature. Think Neil Young in "Like A Hurricane."
So we could meet at Madjet (on U St, I presume you know) at 7 or thereabout and have plenty of time to eat, maybe go to the Velvet Lounge afterwards, then meet my pals at 9:30^2
Vaguely resembles a plan...
