I got my other interlibrary loan today. Ive had Contempt, which basically compiles contempt citations from the Chicago Seven Trial, and of those I only really read Bobby Seales. Judge Hoffman is SO dumb to him. He keeps saying Kunstler is his attorney, and Seale keeps yelling that he is not being represented because he does NOT have his attorney, and Kunstler keeps saying Im not his attorney, and Hoffman kept saying Yes, you are, and giving Seale contempt charges until finally they went through a formality rigamarole and Seale was allowed to speakat which point he rightfully asks what Judge Hoffmans problem is. (I was gonna type some of it, buttheres pages of it. If a couple people ask for it, I will do so.)

The one that came today is Safe Area:Gorazde, Joe Saccos (I hate this term) graphic novel about a Bosnian town that he was in during the Serbian onslaught of the 1990s.. Chris Hitchens does the intro andmmm, its more of the angry, sarcastic Hitchens where he doesnt really come off as well as he could, but its mercifully short. I had another of those tears-welling moments, and keep in mind I havent even read but a few pages, I havent even scratched the surface. Sacco draws a smiling 5-year-old boy on crutches and the Bosnian guard explained that 3 weeks earlier a sniper had shot him, and had tried to shoot his own 3-yr-old son (Sacco draws the boy clutching the guards leg). I just cant understand that mentality. How can you shoot at a 5 or 3-yr-old child? (I trust I dont have to add unarmed 3-yr-old child or 3-yr-old child that hasnt provided Serbia with a reason to fear its aggression.) I used to be one of those people who said Dont feel sorry for a child any more than an adult; human lifes equal, and I dunno which is the proper mentality but seeing violence against children affects me more now.
He draws some pics of WW2 violence, once again barely scratching the surface of the ethnic violence which mustve been SO FIERCE in WW2 for it to reflame after 50 years of non-aggression. In Saccos words, The fury with which the Ustasha carried out their genocidal program of wholesale slaughter, forced religious conversion, and and expulsion of the Serb population left even the Nazis aghast(accompanying drawings- Croats slashing the throats of an entire Serb family, throwing them in a ditch)The Chetnikssought the establishment of a greater Serbia cleansed of all non-Serbs. The Chetniks waged a ruthless war against Bosnias Croat and Muslim citizenry, whom they viewed as Ustasha collaborators and against the Partisans who they saw as likely post-war rivals.(accompanying pictures - Chetniks laughing with bodies piled all around them, one clutching the neck of a weeping woman)

I was very glad to see mtlqueen's post; I went back and looked at my Adaptation comments and felt they were maybe too tepid. I was not wanting to give something crass like a "grade" to the film But if you really wanna know how I felt: 3 3/4 stars outta 4; 9 outta 10; thumbs up, way up. Those are bogus attempts to say the film touched me. I thought maybe "It might make my top 5 but I don't go to many movies" sounded too much like I was bagging on it, in retrospect. If I was to see 50 movies this year, it would still prob be in my top 5. The only other 2003 film I believe I've seen in Rivers And Tides, which I might prefer...but it's amazing, to me. I saw Bowling For Columbine late; I consider it a 2002 film.
Bowling For Columbine is still playing at the porno theater I saw it at. They're also showing Rabbit-Proof Fence. Did anyone see that one? I should get my ass out to see Laurel Canyon, too.
Lastly, look into the rays of the new stoner sun rising. Sonic Titan rides out on clouds of new horizon. Thank you.

Everyone else in the band you know I just dig the hell outta you.
...oh, and I had to drop $900 on brake and wheelrod repairs. Merry Xmas...I'm guessing most people on here probably didn't pay $900 for their whole car. For the record-- it's a Honda. It's not a Ferrari made out of platinum and diamonds. I can see how you might think that, though.
