I have some bad news and good news. Bad news is I couldn't get on here earlier, the site seemed to not work 8-10 pm, and my neck and back are sore so I'm gonna pass on writing a lot. Good news is, I don't work tomorrow morning so I will write to you all's journals then, regardless of how my neck/back feel.

I was just starting to read Bob Fingerman's Beg The Question, and I was unprepared for...well, I had a free issue of Minimum Wage from an previous order from http://www.fantagraphics.com/ and it had a lot more about day-to-day lives and family and such, but in this book Rob and Sylvia are just DOING IT constantly, which...umm....I'm enjoying...but anyway there is some story, and it's good, just...lots more doing it....if you need to be "warned".

I watched Baby Snakes earlier. It was an unexpurgated 3-hour version. It's a Zappa movie. It has concert footage and lots of bizarre claymation. The concert was hilarious. He's quite a showman, inviting people up on stage, high-fiving audience members during solos, talking to people during songs, he stops "Bobby Brown Goes Down" mid-song to read a message thrown onstage attatched to a bra, he makes fun of Peter Frampton a fair amount, and works in many FUCK YOUs to Warner Brothers who had apparently dropped him and gave him some legal troubles. Plus, if you ever NEEDED to see Adrian Belew in a WAC dress-suit uniform....

I notice nobody asked who the cartoon you're looking at is supposed to be; it's Juliana Hatfield, one of the fine Shawn Belschwender comics at http://www.chickfactor.com/ Looking at the site last week was the first time I had seen the infamous "Pavement Boy" comics. I had assumed, from the title, that they made fun of Steve Malkmus. Nope. They make fun of Mark Ibold...they REALLY make fun of Mark Ibold. They TRASH him. Dunno how Mark got them so cheesed...you might ask, "Isn't Shawn the guy who makes those cartoons each week for News of the Weird, where inevitably someone has something stuck up their butt?" Yes, he is.

If I was a big corporation I'd be Macdonald's. What other food establishment would employ a mascot that looks horribly overcholesteroled named "Grimace", the facial expression for NAUSEA?

sounds like - Joe Perry Project...oh, and old Aerosmith, AC/DC and Rose Tattoo's first album. If you never heard JPP or RT you should buy them imme-jut-ly. "Didn't Rose Tattoo do that song Guns and Roses covered? 'Nice Boys'?" Yes, but they did it a trillioon skidillion fruggin times better. "Nice Boys", "Rock and Roll Outlaw" and "Astra Wally" are as real as it gets. "Shooting Star" by JPP is worth the price of his best-of alone, and there's other good ones on there.
mtlqueen would be grinding actual metal onstage, with great big welding tools, so sparks would fly all over the place. Not safe, but safer then some people's pyrotechnics anyway...
This band panders to toaster and Franchise. I will try to pander to the neglected ones (vaj, ebid, Gozuki, eveL, etc) soon...

Their are so many albums/bands that I have stock pilled in my head, I sometimes find it overwhelming. I seem to notice this most in record shops. I'll run in all excited and by the time I've skipped around the store two or three times, I can't ever remember what my intentions were in the first place! Ah well, I least I don't walk out empty handed. That would just be wrong!
