So I was finally listening to the lyrics of "Son of Orange County". I'm the type of person where I begin to hear the lyrics about the 12th time around. They're GREAT lyrics. Concise, to the point:

...and in your dreams,
you can...see...yourself...
as A PROPHET!.....

saving theee wooooorld,
....the words from your lips....
(I am not a crook)
I just can't believe......you aaaaare
such...

Fave Zappa song?

Mine has to be either "Bobby Brown Goes Down", or "Joe's Garage".

YO LA TENGO!!! One of the best indie bands off all time, period. love

As for solos:

Metallica's "One" has always beenone of my favorite solo, for some reason. It's just so recognizable, every time I hear it. But anything Rick Nielson did for Cheap Trick is utter genius, as far as I'm concerned.

Or Maybe the solo in Radiohead's "Just", because I love it so...yeah, that's probably my fave solo, off the top of my head.
rubbersoul:
I try avoid "mindless headbanging guitar solos" whenever possible, so I would have to say that my favorites would be the ones I've never heard. I tend to like guitar solos of a more emotional, less technical and surely non-headbanging nature. Think Neil Young in "Like A Hurricane."

I've got a bunch of snippets to get to, but first thing's weird and sad-- a cousin of my ex-girlfriend was murdered in Honduras, apparently in a carjacking. What a waste, to kill someone for a car. They're parked EVERYWHERE if you wanna just steal one, why go and murder someone??? I never met her, but it's disheartening anyway.

I don't have that zine...

God...some thing in this world make very little sense. But some things, like carjacking, are so unbelievable it makes you question the very nature of humanity...at any rate, you have my condolences.

A new dream band...? Your imagination is running overtime, my friend! (Which of course is always the best way for it to be, as far as I'm concerned).

It's funny that you mention the "boring at a party" worry. I'm supposed to be going to the Dinner & A Movie night in LA , and I'm scared to death for some reason! What if I can't talk to people? What if everyone else gets along really well, but I just sit there and not say anything, and no one likes me??? (I tend to get a bit Charlie Kaufman-like at times...it was hard watching Adaptation because of that...) Anyhoo, I totally understand your concern, but trust me, Cheech; you are far too intelligent, and have way too much to say to be boring. Granted you might not be swinging from the chandeleres (or maybe you are...you tell me), but anyone who conversed with you would fnd themselves in a great conversation, I'm sure of it. Remember that!

DUDE! YOU READ COMICS??? Like Penny Century? Man, yer cool level is flying right off the meter! Seriously though, ain't the Hernandez Bros. geniuses? Ah, me love those bastards....I wanna get a Love & Rockets tattoo, but I don't know what yet...

I get "this page cannot be found" half the times I hit "preferences". Anybody else having this prob?

Okay, so I was asking-- If you could suddenly, magically speak five languages, which would you choose and why?

I chose these:
Spanish - I've studied it, actually...and forgotten all of it. I took a pre-school class of Spanish in 6th grade, took regular classes in jr...

I'm all over Yo La Tengo-- the only way I'd miss it would be if I was out of town, but the roadtrip seems less and less likely the longer I go without planning it.

I was leading people down a too-literal path with my question; when I say "dream band" I mean like DREAM, it's alright to say you're playing whatever instrument, at any proficiency you want, with whomever you want. It was my bad, bringing up the "guitar ability" thing, but I meant for y'all to dream big. Want to play guitar like Iommi? Fine. Want to be...

Hi Cheech. I'm scratching my head now, too. Oh well, I never claimed to be truly hip.
I'm not sure if I've ever seen a Korean film or not. I know I've had a few chances here and there, but if I see that one around, I'll check it out.
I miss my Tunnel Bob. He was a crazy old man, could've been a posterboy for OCD, freaked out if anyone touched him...but he brought me into his underground world, and christened me Tunnel.

I always have good ideas for journals at work...but I don't wanna go on SG at work. Then I usually get home totally burnt and without anything in my mind.

I want to do some audience participation thing...well, one of the thoughts I've been mulling over is what my dream SG band would be. You know, a dream band compiled of myself and SGs and...

I really wish I could comment on a dream line up.... but I'm afraid I don't seem to know enough about what our members play? All I know is plasticfangs plays drums!

That's pretty much it! Not much of a super group now is it? Not to say Plastic couldn't hold it down himself. I can hopefully add more to this super kick ass star line up later. Just for the record I nominate Cheech to manage the tour - where ya gonna start Cheech?
roamingaround:
Franchise--drums
anastasia--vocals
me--bass
Evie--guitar
Bryn--groupie

Ha! That was fun.

I should try to inject the personal before I roll with political stuff. Okay. I was gonna mail Franchise his CDs but had no postal address yet, which would really help. Now, if Franchise was Santa, I coulda just wrote "Santa; North Pole" and he woulda gotten his CDs, plus lots of treacly-cute kids' Xmas cards.

So I coulda cleaned the bathroom, or gone grocery...

This is what I did:
1) Still trying to get my car stereo all straightened out, in the shop for the second day in a row. It shorted out,
because of a prob in the lighter ($100) which...

So I was initially disappointed with this book on Warhol's factory I got sent over from Arlington Central Library to another branch, cuz I thought it was this giant thick one I saw a couple years back, but it's not. It's a skinny paperback...so it doesn't have the photo I was looking for of Candy Darling. This other book I saw had a photo of...
