My dream band yesterday was
. . . . . . . ---VAN BAILEY--- . . . . . . . . . .
Emily - vocals
Bailey - guitar
Franchise - bass
me - drums
sounds like - Van Halen and Weezer
My today's dream band is
Jay Farrar - vox, guitar
me - guitar, dobro, pedal steel
Kerri Kinney - bass
Bill Payne - keys
Petra Haden - fiddle
Lisa (Beck) - drums
(notes- I think post-Lowell-George Little Feat sucks, but I'm including Payne because their debut album is total godhead. Kerri Kinney I just like a lot. Lisa is the drummer on Beck's "Modesto" and "Rowboat", two of the finest country-rock songs ever made.)
sounds like - Beck's country, Jay Farrar's stuff, Little Feat's early stuff, country songs by the Stones or Neil Young, "Range Life" by Pavement The Rock Band.
I'll try to come up with a dream band every day, at least for this month. It should be easy. I virtually always make up dream bands in my mind. When I see girls/women I find attractive, one of my first thoughts is "Would she be a drummer, keyboardist, bass player or guitarist?" Some girls are actually...gasp...SAX players!
Sooo, where was I? Oh yea, today's question is:
If you could suddenly, magically speak five languages, which would they be? And why those 5?
Now some of you might already know five languages. Which makes us lazy bastards on here sick, and you should go outside now and kick yourselves in the butt...but you notice the question allows you to choose FIVE MORE so you can plan your next winter-break semester's classes now, you toffee-nosed swot.
I will put my answers to this question on here....later. I wrote about this in a zine a few years back, so I'm gonna thinkup five now, then go back and see if I choose the same five I did then.
edit pps - The above country-rock band, yes, I know it doesn't have a name, it's hard to come up with very good band names....but what's more important is what they sound like, and I HAVE to add one more influence-- third-album Camper Van Beethoven. I have it on right now, and it's INCREDIBLY LOVELY.
ppps- Oh wow, how coincidental. I was just playing the Camper Vantiquities disc in the box set, and they have a song, "Seven Languages" that says:
"...and if I had just a little more time
I could speak seven languages,
I could walk on water..."
Freaky huh? I only listened to this disc once or twice before...
