Stuff that really moves me:

1) the book Songs of the Gorilla Nation by Dawn Prince-Hughes. A woman with Asperger's Syndrome chronicles her life, primarily the harshness of a life for someone not in tuned with everyday human social processes. She finds that gorillas in the zoo have a much more peaceful life, without hidden/ negative emotional agendas or tricks and at a more reasonable...

I thought I had Asperger's before I realized I was just pretending to. I feel for those who feel alienated from the Human race. I have been there.
For people with ADD, it can be very seductive to think you can never belong. The pain is like having someone keeping to tell you that you can never succeed. Defeat it. You can.
Songs of a Gorilla Ntation is on my TODO list
woodstock:
Dude, do you have a picture of the clock?!? Not only was I called Woodstock, but I had this little tv thingy that played "rain drops keep falling on my head" so that was my favorite song as a child. I need to go on ebay and see if I can find one! biggrin

QUIZ - Do you go on SG much on the weekend?

I've always asked people this question here n there... but never tried asking it straight out as a Question of the Day... so I just did.

I'm sure some people lead lives of adventure Fri night thru Sun night and don't post anything. I try to go on SG every day, though... and...

Haha, I might have stopped by there accidentally today. I'm at the Queen St. Backpackers (on Fort st.) now, but I leave tomorrow evening to go north....I looked for the Hare Krishna place but it was closed today.

Walking away from yourself, Candy, you will see your future.
tryst:
yeah it's a bummer. I'm more worried about my roommate now. She hasn't found a place to stay. These things happen -- hopefully we'll learn this time!!! Thanks for the sweet comment. smile

April 1st? Huh.

Had another lousy dream, second of the week. Great.

Lesse, something positive... I'm in my underwear. Other than that, dunno, it's a little early for interesting Journals (8:35).

edit ps - My new Profile kinda makes it look like Quentin and Cherry are canoodling... kiss kiss

sugarfish:
So, you asked whether I "lament that porn is sorta not-loving-the-whole-person, that it's shallow? Or is it something more repressive?"
You know, that's very well put, the former. I do lament that! But I also feel like -- I don't know, like there's something more repressed going on with me... At some point I must have learned not to discuss sex or anything relating in any way to sex in front of "polite company."

I once did some work casting a non-porn (stupid comedy thing) for some guys who were actually making, selling and distributing porn (in the San Fernando Valley, of course), and that was... odd! I kept thinking... "how can you people do this? Do your parents know?" Not that I didn't walk home with samples from their phenomenally well-stocked warehouse, cuz I did. And these guys WERE shallow. Incredibly shallow. Their sense of humor was generally on par with that of the average 14-year-old.

But... I don't know whether I'm really answering your question or if I can.

I think I'm just... painfully American when it comes to pornography. It's like my superego kicks in with a vengeance when I even consider pornography, like there are angry nuns in my head just waiting for an excuse to whip out the pain sticks. But it really depends on whom I'm with. I can joke about sex or pornography with guys my own age to no end. But it's rare that I can do the same around women, and anyone younger than 24 or older than 60. Go figure.

I think MacBastard put it best when he read my last journal entry and responded with "YOU REPRESSED SADSACK!" (Love that guy. He's painfully funny.) I don't think I'm really all that repressed or I wouldn't be here. But I definitely have some very repressing bones in my body. I wouldn't tell just anyone about SG or my membership in it, for example.

Here's a thought I'm sure you've heard, tho: I think shame is an incredibly important, and useful thing. Shame is not just a defining aspect of the human experience, it also makes so many things so much more pleasurable. Some things wouldn't be nearly as fun to "get away with" if they weren't shameful, or considered shameful by authority figures. For example, I firmly believe in the legalization (and regulation) of all drugs with the exception of pot. Because if pot were legal, it wouldn't be half as much fun to smoke it on the rare occasion that I do!

So... I dunno. Does that help?

Peace surreal

I need to listen to music. Not having it play (ignored) on MusicMatch while I type and can't concentrate. I need to lie down and put on headphones.

I can't stand to be in front of a computer for one more second today.

Thank you to all who wrote in last Journal. I will be back around more tomorrow.

Conduit for sale!

After work, I'm going back to that record store (from Sunday) to pick up my $40 for trade-ins. I'm thinking about picking up a 99 cent vinyl copy of The Six Wives of Henry VIII by Rick Wakeman; it's not every day you get a chance to buy the World's Most Pretentious Album for a buck.

I've had such a nutty day. Well, I hope you like long Journals:

1) I was woken up at 5 a.m. by one of the worst nightmares I've ever had.

2) I read Life After God until I realized I was just completely spacing out, then went on here and LiveJournal.

3) I went to a record shop. I scared young people. They were talking...

Apnea IS like a little doll. She has that quality like Bjork does, even though they look different from each other. My husband enjoys Cherry's 'bountiful British booty', and who can blame him?

I know a member who would love to be a beautiful woman. You could probably figure this out w/ little effort. I love him and I'm flattered that he wants to be me.

Mark E. Smith needs to get back in the studio, mach schnell, for the Swedes recording. I hope he hasn't lost his touch now that he's dried out.

Re: 5) Glad your regional youngsters are so politically aware.

I think I'll leave old Chuckiebaby up for a lil while longer. He's no Quentin Crisp, but he has written some great books... and Quentin, clever as he was, never thought up Gene Gene The Dancing Machine.

(for anyone who understands 1/2 of the above, I loooove you love )

Anyway, great things are happening.

I got an email from Jillybaby. kiss

I got some good off-the-hook...
