I've had such a nutty day. Well, I hope you like long Journals:
1) I was woken up at 5 a.m. by one of the worst nightmares I've ever had.
2) I read Life After God until I realized I was just completely spacing out, then went on here and LiveJournal.
3) I went to a record shop. I scared young people. They were talking about how the Meat Puppets suck, and also, naturally, how "Backwater" was the only song they actually knew by them. I don't normally talk to strangers in record stores, but I said to them, "That song does suck... but their first couple of records are amazing. The Rykodisc version of Meat Puppets I has their first EP, In a Car, and it's just insane. INSANE. The second record, that's the one I think Kurt Cobain likes [sidenote- see, I was trying to appeal to the youth by mentioning KC], it's pretty good too... after that, I have no idea." They appeared happy when I told them these things... then they moved far away.
I talked to the store worker, Carl, about Zappa. He was playing Zappa bootlegs (same as the last time I was in the store). For brevity's sake, I'll likely post these things in ebin's Journal.
4) I went to the Hirschorn Gallery of Art. I bought nice tchotchkes for WhiskeyFightPit and BrookeLynne. I also looked at art. There's this TV "installation" there, with these 30 TVs which flash semi-american-flag imagery: the top left corner is blue and flashes star-like things and presidents. The rest flashed red things and jet fighters and crap. I want to contact the creator and tell him, "Don't bother, it looks just like CNN." The featured exhibit there, by Douglas Gordon, includes one room where cameras project The Exorcist and this old Catholic movie, The Song of Bernadette, onto one screen. I heard a young couple laugh, and say, "The Exorcist," and realized that the movie is a comedy for more people than it is a horror film. Huh. I've never watched it.
5) I got into the elevator in the afternoon with this angry old-white-bald guy (which is almost a description of me, to be fair), and these kids come along (mostly black, one white) and are holding up the elevator, but only slightly. The old guy goes, "Well, are you getting on or not?!" and he says it just a little too angry, right? Anyway, the kids get on, and one starts saying, "I'm Don King," and some gibberish, and then he says "Who in here likes George Bush?" and they all like... answer nonverbally in the negative. Then they all start saying they like John Kerry. (Okay, at this point, I'm beginning to laugh.) The old guy makes a raspberry, and... he just doesn't look happy. At this point, it's my floor and as I'm getting out, "Don King" is saying to the old guy, "You like Bush?? But he didn't send home the troops! He didn't send home the troops!"

I know a member who would love to be a beautiful woman. You could probably figure this out w/ little effort. I love him and I'm flattered that he wants to be me.
Mark E. Smith needs to get back in the studio, mach schnell, for the Swedes recording. I hope he hasn't lost his touch now that he's dried out.
Re: 5) Glad your regional youngsters are so politically aware.
