18 years ago today, I pressed publish on wilwheaton.net. It wasn't the fanciest website in the world, but I went from knowing nothing about HTML and scripting to launch in just six weeks, and I built it entirely by myself (with some guidance from a couple of guys I've since lost touch with). I enjoyed writing in my blog (powered by Greymatter!), and I felt...

great blog and my wife understands stepping into a step parent role... shine on you crazy diamond

Happy anniversary! I love writing blogs for myself as well. It’s the best thing is to read about the thoughts I had in the past and see where my growth has taken me, or even helps me realized if I derailed form where I really want to go. Sometimes the best parents aren’t by blood, so stepping up to the plate is the most amazing thing to do.

About three weeks ago, I had my first audition in … um … in so long, I can’t even tell you when the last one was, or what it was even for. I average about 4 auditions a year these days, because most of what acting work I do get is offered to me, and I’m not going to complain about that even a little...

this is such a hard industry to stay involved in at times eh... chin-up and power through. Use those wins to Trump the losers... (too soon?)

its always great finding your blogs and perspectives on things all across the spectrum.  I admire your thoughts and how you have evolved as a person and actor

Casting for a TV show asked me to keep some dates open, because they said they wanted to cast me in their show.

Neat! I kept the days open, including rescheduling on other work that conflicted.

So they call us a few times to ensure I'm available ... and then they just fucking disappear. They drop off the face of the Earth, and don't make...

There is no shortage of despicable behavior although it has been my impression that actors are very often treated like rubbish. I see it as people who love having the opportunity to be wretched to others because they feel insignificant until they get that moment of power. The satisfaction is of course fleeting so they will treat everyone with contempt whenever they can get away with it. I recently had a similar experience and I suspect nearly everyone has. I'm sorry they did that to you, but as has been pointed out, you dodged a bullet, so the universe has in the end unfolded as it should.
romany:
That is SO shitty and their loss.

Today, I have my first audition in ... a year? 18 months? Something like that. It's in 2 hours, and I've been preparing the scenes all day. It's been super fun to break the sides down, try out different intentions and doable actions, and despite my best efforts, now I kind of want to do this role, because I think it would be fun. I...

Good Luck!

This was on my Tumblr thing.

A neat human on Tumblr said >>> Hi! I just went 48 hours without a drink and I'm really proud of myself and wanted to tell someone. Thanks for being so open about your sobriety, it's a big inspiration for me and I'm sure for many others.

So I said:

Hey way to go! Do you plan to stay...

I read this when you posted on Facebook and it was perfectly timed... the reminder that drinks should be when I wanted it, not when I "need" it was greatly appreciated.

Sundays between 10 a.m. and midnight there is always this program in the antyradio with this guy who was addicted to alc telling stories and trying to help other people. I hear to him sometimes and I learn a lot about the life. So if somebody from Poland likes to get advice and/or learn something listen to that guy, he is really good.

All this grunge and riot grrl I've been listening to has knocked loose a memory that's kind of shameful and regrettable, and even though this probably doesn't matter to anyone (least of all the potentially-offended parties), it bothers me, so if you'll indulge me for a moment...

When I was a teenager, I loved punk and rap, because both forms of music were rebellious, and...

I really love this, thank you for owning up to it and doing better
  1. So I made this ridiculous T-shirt that may appeal to some of you.

Get it? A Flock of Seagals? Anyone? Hello?

It's available for one more week, and then it's gone forever, so if you want one, get on that, man!

That is awesome. Amazing. Spectacular! I wish I thought of it. 😃

the is a Space age Love song

It’s warm and windy in the valley today. The sun feels so good on my skin, as the breeze swirls little cyclones of leaves and trash against the buildings I’m walking past. A palm frond waves at me as I pass. It is barely clinging to the trunk of its tree, and will probably come down with the first real gust that hits it at...

  1. This was written and posted on my blog in 2009, which feels like a lifetime ago.

I can't recall exactly how it came up, but I recently mentioned that I'd once worked in a movie with Ron Jeremy. This revelation was met with some interest and a look that sort of goes like this: O_o so I thought it would make an entertaining (to...
