A few times a week, I am asked by couples to recommend some two player Tabletop games for them to play. This is a very short, totally non-exhaustive list of (mostly lighter) games that I love to play with Anne, as well as some other games that aren’t her jam, but are still pretty great.

The idea is to take pieces that...

Awesome list, Its actually your fault that I have purchased many of the above games. Enjoyed every single one. My favourite by far though has to be Small World. Just so much variables that can occur. :)

@kalloh :3 Will's suggestions if we are ever seeking for tabletop games to play :33

The rain was coming down steadily when I walked to my car. By the time I got in and closed the door, I was cold and wet, water dripping off my hair, down my neck and into my eyes. I turned the key, and my headlights came on. Through the raindrops on my window, the reflected taillights of the car parked in front of me...

Nice.

I'm really tired, and don't have a whole lot of motivation to do anything today, but I don't want to break the chain of daily posts that I started over a month ago, so here's some writing advice I gave on my Tumblr earlier today:

Do you have any recommendations for books on how to be a better writer and/or...

Thanks for this. All of the writing that you've shared here over the past year inspired me to start work my own novel last week. These suggestions have been noted. I recently read The Art of Slow Writing by Louise DeSalvo which helped kick start the project for me... someone else here might find it useful in addition to your list.
caraphernelia:
it's nice to read you :) excited to see what you will come out with :)

Wow.

We, the Rebel Alliance, do therefore in the name—and by the authority—of the free beings of the Galaxy, solemnly publish and declare our intentions: To fight and oppose you and your forces, by any and all means at our disposal; To refuse any Imperial law contrary to the rights of free beings; To bring about your destruction and the destruction of the...

Fuck Yes! Remember the Nazi's call themselves the Alt-Right now. Don't understand why the media is using this term instead of White Power groups. Also, never understood why these groups were never called terrorist groups, when they have been doing terrorism in this country for years.

I'm still in the bargaining stage too. I have 3 kids, one of whom is a gay teen. I am terrified of this reality.

Anne and I went to the world premiere of Rogue One last night, because we apparently live in a world where we get invited to the world premiere of a Star Wars movie, which I still can't believe actually happened.

I wanted to experience a Star Wars movie the way I did when I was a kid, so I deliberately avoided everything about this...

I already have a dozen tickets for me and my geekiest friends. I can't wait!

"The last time I loved a Star Wars movie as much as I loved #RogueOne, it was 1977." This was a striking comment, which I didn't fully understand until I finally saw the movie yesterday. But immediately it was the perfect way to describe the new film - not since the first one was there that sheer, unexpected sense of wonder, "oh, they can do THAT?" But seeing Princess Leia at the end, alive and well and as she was in 1977, was an exhilarating but gut-wrenching experience yesterday that it wasn't even a week ago. I was emotional already at that point, so the moment hit esp. hard - but it was good to express that emotion.

Hey speaking of self-aware robots: how about Westworld? I kept feeling like there was a good show inside whatever I've been watching for ten weeks, so I stuck with it, enduring awful exposition, two characters that are either badly written, badly performed, or both, and a criminal underuse of Anthony Hopkins ... but after watching the season finale, I'm so glad I stuck it...

I loved Westworld. Partially for the cast and  story. Partially because it's the single best video game show I've seen. Serious WoW flashbacks with the quest NPCs and chains. Mostly I just loved sitting down and losing myself in a show that didn't simply kill a beloved character to shock the audience. Nothing against TWD or GoT. I love and watch them both, but it's nice to do more than grieve after an episode.

@nebula really? Hah..yes..I totally agree..it took so long to unravel and after this finally..a lot of questions were answered..It should get interesting..as long as it doesn't get in their heads and they don't fuck it up

Sometimes when I’m writing, and I feel stuck, I do something that’s creatively a little different to shake loose my brains.

So I decided to play around with fake tilt-shifting in GIMP, and I made this, using the Beatles’ performance on top of Abbey Road in like 1972 or 1973 or whatever. It’s not great, but it’s not bad for my

Ah, good old Let It Be. That concert film was the first time it truly sank in for me that it was just four guys with a band and the quality of the music took my breath away.

I'd be interested to see you keep playing with photo editing :)

It is five in the morning. After a little over four hours of restless sleep, I got out of bed before my tossing and turning woke up Anne. I’m not sleeping much recently, and what sleep I do get is plagued by nightmares.

It’s been raining all night, which I realize isn’t something worth mentioning for most people, but it hasn’t...

It's these twin trends happening at the same time that are really frightening - a turn toward authoritarianism combined with normalization of virulent racism and other fascist ideology. There are a range of possible outcomes below the apocalyptic ones, but I don't think we can afford to take a wait and see attitude, even for a moment. Once authoritarianism really takes hold, fighting it tends to become extraordinarily difficult.

This. All of this. It's like you wrote down all the thoughts in my brain.
