You ever have one of those times where you don't want to sleep, but you're too tired to do anything interesting or especially worthwhile? I'm having one right now. This is what I get for crashing early, and waking up in the middle of the night... and then going to sleep for two hours, and then waking back up.
So, what I am doing is...

Sometimes I have little fragmentary visions, little snippets of some bigger story. I had one a while back, as I was driving.
I pictured a sort of reverse Connecticut Yankee In King Arthur's Court, that is to say, I imagined a knight from King Arthur's court who got conked on the head only to wake up in the present day. Our knight, brought forward...

Perhaps that is my problem on the road. I am a knight reincarnated, a knight of the highway.

The Parable of Achilles' Ship
Once, in ancient Greece, a man named Achilles had a ship. This was not surprising, since he was a sailor.
Over the years, as the ship aged, he had to replace the deck planking.
And then, a chance encounter with a rock at an inopportune moment smashed the rudder. A new one was found, of course.
The hull had to...

No man is a finished product. One phrase I sometimes hear people say which gives me the shivers is "that's just the way I am", usually said as an excuse to react/be a certain way
The beauty of life is we can forever change, evolve, grow. Somethings can and will challenge us, in a worse case they may even destroy us, but usually often things are overcome, new steps can be taken. One can learn from mistakes even if it can be a painstaking process in fact I hope everyone learns even when no mistakes have been made. Life is learning. So you've just had one hell of a living month
brightredscream:
No. With time comes change, learning, evolution....so essentially, no man is ever finished or the same person they started out to be.
Edit for Tuesday: Sorry, folks, the grayness is not in this morning. Back tomorrow.
Thanks, everyone, for all the birthday wishes yesterday. It was a good day, simple and quiet, and I feel better rested than I have in quite some time.
So, the end of the month. I need to see when I can take the test. A Saturday would probably be best, or...

Soooo the month of study is over.... The excitement is about to start...
I know you'll pass with flying colors.

When I got into 2nd grade, Mrs. Lebehr (don't remember the spelling) asked students to tell her something that each of us had gotten away with that our parents didn't know about. It was like a secret show and tell thing. In retrospect, she was probably going to have that as leverage against any of us who misbehaved. But despite having a bad reputation that preceded her, she was actually pretty cool.
So, apparently the plan for my birthday is-
Stay up all night watching old movies until it's time to give Fearless his insulin shot in the morning (never fear, back up alarms are set just in case), sleep until I wake up, have coffee ice cream for my birthday, and then get back to studying for a while, and finish off the day with some...

Happy birfday
Yesterday was a bit exciting. There was a thunderstorm at work, lightning apparently came in through the phone lines, and we lost a server. Fortunately, its hard drives were intact, and two rather hectic hours later, my boss and I had them transplanted into an identical machine, and we were back up, pretty much good as new. Otherwise I would have been working most of...

I like noir better than porn because it is so much less abundant. Have a fun evening and a very happy beginning to your birthday.
There's already so much light out... make a cup of tea, talk to the kitties, read a few blogs... where does the time go? Well, other than away, all too quickly...
Yeah, this is one morning when I am tied to the train tracks, time is the oncoming locomotive, and my rescuer would be... an idea for something about which to write.

I saw a movie (on DVD) over the weekend called The Orphanage. If you're in the mood for a movie that's quite spooky, without more than one significantly gory scene, I would say it is definitely worth watching. If any of you have actually seen it, though... I would love a second opinion on the ending, because I had one reaction...

Spooky movies! I have had enough of them today!
My last birthday? Not sure....the memory has gone. Will have to page back in my blogs and get back to you. My b-day is right smack dab in the middle of holiday season so I am usually partied out and not in the mood for much.

I think I'm just going to study this morning. I should have already started, but I have an hour I can use right now.

Good morning, everyone.
Why is it, that even when you take every single moment you can out of a weekend, and sleep as little as humanly possibly, that those two days seem shorter than any two other days of the week? Fortunately, I seem to be well-rested despite having stayed up most of Saturday night. This is a good thing.

Question for this time: ok, remember the you're shipwrecked/single footprint question? Now, assuming you've been rescued after a couple years on your island, other than home, what's the first place to which you would want to go?
Hahah shopping?
LOL
I would have lost a ton of weight being stranded on that damn island - so I would love to get clothes to fit into!

I look forward to hearing it!
Days are perhaps arbitrary... I mean, there's this odd cycle of day and night we follow, but ultimately, it's our will and our motivation that determines how long we'll be awake. Our jobs tie us to the cycle we call the week, and seasons tie us to months and years. But what ties us to these units, beyond that?
Isn't a day just a day,...

If you could instantly be granted one talent or skill, what would it be? One realistic and one complete fantasy answer cheerfully accepted!
I'd love to be able to play guitar or draw...
I tried to learn how to do both..and yeah..I'm not very good LOL
I love to sing, so I think that being able to play guitar would be a nice addition to that
I also envy people who can draw...I would love to be able to do that!
Complete fantasy?
I'm not sure to be honest...
I'd love to be able to communicate with animals, that would be amazing.
and
f you had to be haunted by a ghost, tell me about the ghost by which you would be haunted.
I'd like to be haunted by the ghost of someone who could give me guidance, and who was possibly myself in a past life...No idea why, but I think I would.
and
What cartoon character would you like you are most like, and why?
Oh lord, no idea.
Um...maybe The Little Mermaid? LOL
Always looking for the next better, big thing..and wanting change in order to be happy because she's not happy with her current self?

Pick a figure from history. Pick one major event in their story. Tell how you would do things differently, and what the result would be.

What's the one greatest bit of wisdom you can offer me?
I don't feel like I could offer you any wisdom that you don't already know - most of my "wisdom" is in reflection to animals, and you are already in tune and compassionate to them...You don't forget them, and that's beautiful to me...Never change that - they need us.

What do you think is a good reason to get married, and why? If there is no good reason, why?
I don't think there are REASONS....
I think it's a feeling more than anything....I think that once you start to apply reasons on something like marriage, it loses something....
I don't know.
I think that when it feels like it's the right thing, and it's what would make someone feel complete and whole...that's the right "reason"?

What's your handwriting like?
Messy, unique...I make weird letter g's....and my letter a's look like they do here on this computer screen

Death.
Centipedes.
Heights (to an extent)
Driving over bridges
Being unwanted/loved/forgotten
Clowns

You've been shipwrecked, stranded on an island for at least a year. One morning you are walking on the beach, and in the sand, you come upon one footprint. Yes, one. No footprints leading to it, no footprints leading from it. What is your reaction? (Bonus points if you choose to tell how it happened. )
I think I would cry, collapse on the ground and cry...
But at the same time, being social would be VERY hard, so I'd have a hard time deciding if I really wanted to try and find that person, if there really was one.
and
What was something you did today that you enjoyed?
I went shopping
I got text messages from someone amazing...
and
Do you believe in magic?
No.

What's your question for me?
What brings you happiness and calm?

What's the handiest trick you know that you can summarize in a few words to a few paragraphs?
I honestly don't know....

What's something stupid you've done recently... or heck, something really clever you've done is fine, too.

I know to a lot of people this wouldn't seem stupid..but for me, it's VERY hard....
When I do it, I almost instantly regret it.

If you could go back at least 1,000 years and live in a civilization, which one would you choose if (a) you would get to return to your own time and (b) if you would not.
I'd be happy living in the 1960's....I love everything about that time.
I would also be curious to try living in the 1800's, in a big plantation house....I know I'd want to come back from that though
