There's already so much light out... make a cup of tea, talk to the kitties, read a few blogs... where does the time go? Well, other than away, all too quickly...

Yeah, this is one morning when I am tied to the train tracks, time is the oncoming locomotive, and my rescuer would be... an idea for something about which to write. wink This time I must save myself, though.

I think it shall be a quiet birthday. I'm not planning on doing anything other than staying home... and that suits me just fine. I have studying to get done, and trees to save, and plenty to keep me amused.

This is a time, though, that I particularly miss one one my friends, who is now off in Kansas. For someone who likes to study people (like me) he was the greatest friend anyone could have. Because, in addition to being a genuinely good and genuinely interesting guy... he was a great attention focus. I could go anywhere with him, and be completely sure that he would be the center of attention- which worked quite well for me, because I could sit back, and watch all the other people who were focused on him... and listen. I could wait to say something until I had something clever to say. It made me seem so much more clever than I am (not that I'm not, I'm just not able to pull it off consistently when I also have to keep a regular conversation going wink ).

It's been a much quieter time with him gone. It's not that I don't tend to like the people I meet, but it's quite easy for me to stay absorbed in books and home and work. But of course, as is the question with our civilization these days, is this sustainable indefinitely?

Happy Birthday! This is a preemptive Happy Birthday since I have no idea when I will be back.
