I had a much better day today. It was FREEZING while walking around campus in the wet, driving snow, but classes went well. I think I'm going to do quite well this semester.

I spent the evening relaxing. A friend and I went to dinner and then watched "Gilmore Girls" (which I actually like) and "Smallville" (which made me gag). I'd never seen "Jay and...

Yar,
my two best friends are moving way far away in may (sic) and it is so depressing I can't even think of it -- especially since they've been kind of my rock of ages in this stormy sea of vapidity that be Meeeami.
In other words, I hear ya dude. ditto.

Things you could fill that gap with:
snacky doodles, like those pinkish puff balls with the coconut--LEARN TO LIKE 'EM.
Translate Ulysses in to common English
do the Readers Digest vocabulary every week (month?)
try breeding cats
try some breeding yourself (or at least go through the motions)
memorize the tv guide
get a pet turtle and give him speed everyday
memorize the OED (look up "merkin" at least)
start a band that only plays children's songs, but REALLY fast.
...

yeah that is sad..my good friend just moved to the other side of the world..i will miss him so much..i know he will be happier so thats good..but i understand the void thing..my friend is truly one of a kind and it will be hard not seeing him as much...
we have always wanted to start this really different kind of talk show about music..i guess that will be put on hold...hopefully with todays technology we could find a way to still do that..well hang in there..perhaps write a letter to him when you really miss him..that helps me when i really miss someone..a good old fashion letter...

They just increased my mother's medication. Add that to the car accident and the back injury...bleh. I'm not having a very good week.

Oh, and one of my best friends is moving away. I'm going to miss him, even though I know he's making the right decision.
kingbugs:
in case of such weeks, you should keep your pockets stuffed with misc. stuff that you then take out and leave in incongruous places--for example, cut out REALLY silly pictures from porno mags (esp from the ads in tne back) and them leave them on coworkers desks when they're not looking, leave a rubber ball and jacks on the stairwell or men's room floor, get those little tiny plastic parachute men and try and hang them from the lights in public places, buy a dozen donuts and as you walk home place them in silly places, like on fire hydrants or high-up window sills. constantly have as much carmel in your mouth as you can and try to talk to people...

*edited for spelling, I usually leave fun typos in, but these were all Booooring. gaaar*

I've remedied these issues in my usual way:

Select a bunch of mp3s that are just happy and silly and crazy and Sarah-feel-good.

Turn volume up.

Hit shuffle.

Dance like crazy, and let Gomez join if he insists. (Gomez is one of my cats, and he LOVES being held while I'm dancing).

Sing loudly. I can actually sing, so my neighbors haven't complained. Yet.

I don't believe this.

I just got into my second car accident in six months.

The first one was my fault (sun glare got in my eyes, and I rear-ended a person at a red light). That one ended up with $2400 in damage and some pretty sore muscles.

This one was NOT my fault, and the damage is cheaper (should be around $500). Unfortunately,...

What is it with immature, jealous girls? There are times I'm so disgusted with my gender.

I've been friends with a guy for a few months. (No name, for his protection). We are Very Good Friends and absolutely nothing more. Period. If we were going to end up sucking, f*cking, or whatnot, we would have already (trust me).

Well, I mention this guy in my...

I just woke up from a terrifying nightmare. I'm still shaking, after ten minutes of leaving all the lights on and drinking orange juice. I'm all bundled in a blanket, and I can't keep my eyes off the hallway to my room

It was very real and very scary. It went on FOREVER. True to other nightmares, I woke up just before things got Very...

I just had the worst birthday ever. It started out nice - rented a brand new car with CD player, went to class, got lots of happy email - and then it all went to hell.

First, my not-a-date called and said he was too tripped up on Xanax to take me out. No problem. Go to bed and I'll lecture you in the morning....

wowowowow.
I REALLY like the idea of choosing your birthday, and I HAVE NEVER THOUGHT OF THAT. it got me all excited. It's a great idea. See, you ARE smart.
So, let's start over ...
happy birthday. sorry you had such a bad day yesterday. Good thing that TODAY is your birthday and not yesterday.
So what are you going to do today? I hope you get b-day sex.
You should make yourself an artichoke today. It's your birthday.
sabine:
i'm sorry your b-day sucked.

i go to michigan state so unfortunately only sort of neighbors. unfortunate b/c i have a feeling i'd get along great with anyone who loves monty python, muppets, tim burton, and eddie izzard among other things.

Thanks, everyone!

My friend and I didn't end up going out, and I didn't get birthday sex. I took a bottle of wine behind East Hall - in the historic area of campus that overlooks the city - and sat and pondered the world until I couldn't feel my extremities.

Now I'm doing homework. :-P

AARGH!!!

The downside to having cats -- when you need to get up in time for a class, they will knock the alarm clock to the floor so you can't hear it. *sigh* At least it was the first day, so I only missed receiving my syllabus and hearing a description of the class. Still. It looks so BAD when you miss the first day. frown

I had my first two Winter semester classes today. I have Women in Lit with the same prof I had for Brit Lit II last semester. She's wonderful, so I took this class just to have another lit class with her. Predictably, it looks like it's going to rock.

I also had Shakespeare Seminar. It's the upper-level Shakespeare class, and boy, is she teaching it...

Since I ignored my alarm, one of my cats decided to wake me up with a heart attack. Do you have any idea how disconcerting it is to wake up to a giant **CRASH** in the kitchen? (It turned out to be a stack of pots and pans, not an axe murderer).

Regardless, I am up earlier than normal, and it's not so bad. I...

The first two seasons of Red Dwarf will be out on DVD in February. They're going to release the seasons in sets of two each February after that. (I cannot, for the life of me, recall if there were six or eight seasons, and we used to own them on VHS...harumph).

Today was my last day at the Evil Job. I'm not used to waking up at 8:30 in the morning, so I was dragging. When I realized it was almost 6:30 AM and I was nowhere near sleep, I debated just staying up. I then realized that would ensure my boss would keep me there until evening.

So, I napped, and my friend picked me...
