Ever have your phone line die for 36 hours for no reason?
I recommend it; lots of fun.
But I'm not here to complain as it's the weekend and I've gotten my laundry done already...which leaves me to do...whatever. I feel like buying Indian food, actually.
Earthly Powers still going for good reading; it's 600 pages, not 400 actually, but I've got 100 down. The...

I left work early today with a monster neck/head tension headache. It must have been from erratic/minimal sleep, since my day was actually not stressful. So I came back here and actually slept for 1/2 hour after taking drowse-inducing cold medicine. It was either that or beer to relax my muscles and I think I made the right choice; 1pm is too early for beer....

Superb mate!!
Legs Akimbo features the drumming talents of my good friend PervyPunk...
Sammo Hung are one of the finest local bands that have yet to make it big...but they deserve it...
The bass player with Zabrinski used to be in my classes in Uni (we purified DNA together!
), and they supported the Super Furry Animals in Edinburgh recently.
Finally, Arthur Q split up a couple of months ago as the singer is bored with playing. Arthur Q are unsigned, have no chance of a record deal, yet are the finest live band that I've EVER seen...and I was drinking with the guitarist and drummer earlier tonight, and no recorded stuff technically exists...most of the band don't even have copies! 'Muswell Hill' was written by Kenny the keyboard player I believe...I'll have to dig some photos out and upload them to my pics...
Kudos to your excellent taste sir!

Hey darling, I had a terrible headache this week also. I hope you're feeling better now.
Strangely enough there is some SammoHung on the tape I'm sending you... Like WaTed said, a fine local punk band - we played with them a couple of weeks ago and it was fun
Your tape is being sent out this week, for deffinite
Cherry xox

Apart from Earth I think I'd have to choose Eternia, for obvious reasons...
Was that an Emperor penguin and Chelsea Clinton in one work of art? I never thought I'd see them together...
So which tracks do you like on that CD, and which do you dislike....unfortunately I can't remember what I put on it

Dude, whataya mean my "favorite planet"!?! How the fuck should I know? Last I heard the moon was made of green cheese. Now, as far as candy bars named after celestial bodies are concerned, I'd say Milky Way is my favorite.
I have been reading Earthly Powers...okay, aaand watching Tom Green shows on video...but I can't help it; I like spazzes who act insane, and the show is hitting a creative stride...but back to intellectuality, the Burgess novel is really good so far, and it's not nearly as long as I thought it was. It looked thicker than Brothers Karamazov (800+ pages) but it's only...

Saw your comment on the Dinosaur Jr./Sebadoh thread. My favorite Sebadoh is Bubble and Scrape, and then Smash Your Head..., but that's probably just because they came out at the right time in my life.

i'd just like to say i love the Zappa/Beefheart album. i've heard some good things about the reunited (minus Beefheart) Magic Band.
i haven't seen Enemy at the Gates. in fact it's been quite a while since i saw a "new" movie at all. i think the last movie i watched was The Deer Hunter. wait, that's not true, i picked up a used DVD of Resident Evil a few weeks ago.

No BIG big deal, but...
last night I was watching My Dinner with Andre again. Watching the exchange between freewheeling Andre and keeping-it-simple Wally, and then seeing this thread today, "Where Do You Think You'll Be in Ten Years?"...it does make one reflect on "life changes." Do I need to make any? I dunno. I had been thinking a bit about taking photography classes. I...

Unless you can get some kind of pity grants or something I'd say study photography on your own. I can really only speak for what I've seen around my neck of the woods. Maybe they've got some serious world class photography class in the big VA. Honestly, I've been trying to be the penny pinching raining day cat for 4 years now and it's brought me nothing but regret. I feel better now that I drink everyday and spend like a Tsunami will cave it all in at any moment. I imagine if you survive various binges and spending sprees, you will feel like driftwood washing up on a homeless man's ass. What is the right thing to do, Cheech? I wish I knew the path that brought fortune and joy. Do I need religion? I heard that one of Black Flag's early singers, Ron Reyes (Chavo Pederast), was a born again christian now. Who are you gonna believe these days?
Cheech, let's find an offshore oil rig. The fucking Peace Corps wont take me. I can dig fucking wells and trenches and shit. Hell, I've got plenty of the "southern hospitality" to serve soup to the dying and poor of Burma. Mission of Burma Dusty they call me. I'm trailing off, big time.
Cheech, I'm sorry for the alcoholic ramblings. I hope it makes you chuckle.
I'm going up North again today, so your tape wont arrive till next week. I've got you 2 burns of Acid Mothers Temple and a cassette with United States Of America and a special surprise.
P.S. I'm listening to XTC and doing the "truffle shuffle" all over my goddamned basement. It's really quite interesting. It looks kinda like the zombies in "Return of The Living Dead" hopping around and looking for brains and whatnot.

weird, my friend was just telling me about Lightning Bolt. a two-piece in old wrestling masks...he said they sound surprisingly good in light of that. i think he's going to send me some. you're right, though, Tower should be ashamed for not stocking Husker Du. where would half of today's bands be without them?
i haven't read a hefty novel since Schrodinger's Cat by R. A. Wilson. i've been on nonfiction since then, with a couple breaks for "light" sci-fi and finally getting to A Confederacy of Dunces. i think i'll be due for a thick novel again soon, though.

I worked blahblah etcetc (WhiskeyFight is too damn right about that; I had a vacation two weeks ago, the longest I've had in as long as I can remember, and I'm already ready for another one.) and I went to the movies again. Whale Rider. It's a nice movie, I certainly didn't feel "ripped off" or whatever...but I have to say I enjoyed Pirates......

I've only bid on something ONCE on e-bay and I won it. Little did I know I could buy the same poster on the actual Garbage site before it was remodeled. It's probably best that I stay away from bidding, I've been told it's addictive and now you are more proof.
I liked Pirates too. That girl was annoying though...

Another short post, as I'm 1) at work 2) going to see Pirates of the Carribean tonight, by hook or crook. Having these sold-out viewings n laundry-based personal-scheduling delays is making me redouble my piracy efforts.
Okay, well I have time for one quick story. In 1971, Anthony Hopkins tried out for the movie The Girl from Petrovka, and got the role. He took...

I should update. I've been spacing out badly. Things were okay at work today, my 7th n final work day o the week, but sadly my plan to bug out early n go see Pirates of the Carribean was snafu-d. When it is my turn to take the dirt nap...I wanna go out like those hard timers in the fucking WILD BUNCH. Either that or like Scarface (naturally). Or like Charles S. Dutton in Alien 3. Hey, I like the fact that they went less Cameron with that one. I don't know, I guess I have all of these macho death fantasies.
I promise I will work on your mix and send it out to you. I have been on a ridiculous bender. I have bought like 20 cds in a week and I haven't even opened them yet. Kinda like Ty in Caddyshack with all of those uncashed checks except I'm not a worldy golf ladies man.
I don't like television but Conan OBriens band was playing BLACKBERRY WAY by The Move today and I almost hit the fucking roof. That band is the cat's frickin meow in my book. Roy Wood is a genius.
keep it real in the streets!!!

I was a bit surprised by Pirates but it's a good movie.
I was reading about City Lights Books in Publishers Weekly, too. Im really into the idea of going there someday. While Im neither an expert on poetry nor a great fan of the Beats, I appreciate what the Beats were doing, which was basically saving this country from the pits of 1950s conservatism which it is.sliding back into?....and the City Lights store has an entire...
