I should update. I've been spacing out badly. Things were okay at work today, my 7th n final work day o the week, but sadly my plan to bug out early n go see Pirates of the Carribean was snafu-d. The monstercomplex theater I went to see it at took about 15 minutes to find parking, and the 5:20 show was sold out. It has to be the only monsterplex cinema with two hour waits between showings. I thought the whole idea about monstercinemaplexes was they had many showings...and wasn't anyone going to see Bad Boys 2, Seabiscuit or various other big movies?

So I did the only thing I could do; go get really spicy Ethiopian food. I was a bit disappointed that the doro wat came with some generic salad bits instead of greens this time....I like my greens....but anyway, I'm now stuffed of very hot food.
I need for vaj or clovesbud or someone else to coach me in what Japanese foods are good. I have made some cultural food rounds this week (Ethiopian, Thai, Afghan, some uhh indeterminate "mid-Eastern" biryani) but have yet to make the big Japanese trek. WASABI!!

I finally got an item of music from an SG member! I mean, aside from the Morphine CDs Franchise sent ages back...okay, I finally got a second SG member to send me a music item, and that would be

so thanks to him, I will now have tons of Welsh bands to listen to, and further ponder "Just what is going on in Wales anyway?"

I was going through the Bartlett's Quotations book and fell upon this item:
"Always give your best, never get discouraged, never be petty; always remember, others may hate you. Those who hate you don't win unless you hate them. And then you destroy yourself."

I'm fascinated by this quote. First of all, it's solid advice....and, I mean, think of how apropos it is in light of current American foreign policy!
...but then again, isn't it okay to hate the enemy sometimes? They are, after all, "the enemy," right? And Nixon was at war while in office. Is Dick referring merely to hatred that becomes consuming and distorts your common sense, or is he meaning that intrinsically, deep down, no amount of hate should be tolerated??
I wonder how many people today know that Nixon was not behind the Watergate break-in*, that his crime was manipulating information to separate his connections to the people who were involved?
...not that I loooove Nixon (well, maybe SG's Nixon is lovable, I dunno, or Dale Nixon...but we're talking about Richard here), but I find that for all their faults and lies, the 60s politicians (Nixon, Johnson, Kennedy, even Goldwater, yes) were a hell of a lot more straight and less manipulative and shameless than the creeps of the last few administrations...maybe it's just the times. Can a politician get elected telling the truth?
