Question of the Day

What is your favorite planet (besides Earth)?

For me, it's not a contest. Oh sure, Venus is neat since it rotates the wrong way and is covered with acid. And Jupiter has the Big Red Dot. Saturn has the very space-age-looking ring. And Pluto is very wintery and has the charming trait of not really being much bigger than it's moon, Charon....

...but none is nearly as beautiful as the blue, blue Neptune. Fittingly enough, Neptune is covered with water...but what makes it so super-blue is the high levels of red-light-absorbing methane mixed in with its hydrogen and helium atmosphere. But don't be fooled by its 3 billion miles from the sun, or its surface temperature of -200 degrees celsius; it's iron/rock core is actually 7000 degrees celsius, i.e. as hot as the sun's surface.

I would love to swim in its oceans and float in its cool blue atmosphere, amongst the white icy trails of methane and the dark spots of storms which have held winds at 1500 mph, the strongest winds recorded on any planet. Excellent wind-surfing and hang-gliding conditions...and good pirate seas.

8/6/03 -- Sometimes you see people gone for a while and wonder "Ooh, what's happening with them?" Perhaps a BIG MYSTERY is going on. Well, in my case, it's a lil more boring than that. Monday night MSN kept dumping me off, and last night there was severe lightning here when I got off work at night, so I wasn't rushing to turn my computer on...

I need more people to answer the above questions, which is to say 1) name their favorite planet (or moon or star, if you're strange), 2) comment on my art, my art that I slaved over so, in my My Pics section. Graci. Love to all.
