My power was out last night...
I got off of work early anticipating all this time I'd have to SG n email...wellll, it turns out the temporary power outage I had Tuesday night (which prevented me from IMing TunnelSlats more, and erased the Ween CD listing I was compiling
) was from a lightning strike on some power line somewhere (I didn't hear this lightning on Tuesday, either) so they had to shut off power from 6:45 to midnight last night. Great.
So I read some by the twilight. What I read was...pretty sobering. Maus II. Holocaust literature.
It was yet another horrible revelation, reading about the closing of Auschwitz. The advance of Russia and the Americans meant Germans had to get rid of the "evidence," kill death camp prisoners as fast as possible while retreating to Germany...I umm dunno how much detail you want me to go into. And of course, the preceding pages, the mental games played on prisoners (not only by German guards but Polish prisoner-lackeys) make Schindler's List ring truer than ever.
So...it got too dark to read so I went to buy water (with no electricity, the water pressure was out; it's a high-rise) at a health food store and also ate way to many soy ice cream bars. Also, with no electricity at home, it was fun to just drive n play some music.
By the light of a battery-lamp (candlelight is pleasant, but I find it kinda awkward to read by. Sitting right up on a candle isn't fun in July with no air conditioning.) I read some of Hitchens's book on Orwell. I wrote in Morgan's journal about a piece of it.

I promise I will work on your mix and send it out to you. I have been on a ridiculous bender. I have bought like 20 cds in a week and I haven't even opened them yet. Kinda like Ty in Caddyshack with all of those uncashed checks except I'm not a worldy golf ladies man.
I don't like television but Conan OBriens band was playing BLACKBERRY WAY by The Move today and I almost hit the fucking roof. That band is the cat's frickin meow in my book. Roy Wood is a genius.
keep it real in the streets!!!
