Back on 8/10, a major wind storm came through the midwestern part of the United States. Hit my family hard. I am attaching a video taken in my state so others can see what happened.

SOOO INSANE! My old roommate was from Des Moines and I'm friends with her extended family up there... Holy moly! It was nuts how long it took them to get the power back on...
magusjoe:
It was down anywhere from 2 to 5 days on average, however  places like Cedar Rapids had people without for close to 2 weeks.

We were hit by a weather phenomenon called a "Derecho" where I live. Winds of 80 to 100 mph (160 kilometers per hour for you cool metric folks) came through with little warning. Thankfully, the family is safe if a little harried by the experience.

Finally got a good shower, some aloe vera for the sunburn, and power is back on... you all take care.

We had a weather phenomenon called a 'Derecho' come through today. No power, trees down, lightning strike, a hole in the house with no way to get to it, and waiting on insurance agent and the power company so we can start clearing. Bad day for weeks ahead.

Thanks @felicity I appreciate your kind message. Things are now getting better at least in the short term.

Seeing all these posts and that video again, what a nightmare. So glad you and your family are safe though!
