Hmmmm, home again. I had forgotten how much I love Vancouver, even if all the anti-smoking laws are a bit heavy handed. I'm all for non-smoking restaurants, limited smoking sections, and such, but a completely non-smoking nightclub?! Luckily, a number of clubs seem to have a look the other way policy when much.
The trip was great, although I was somewhat disappointed by one club. When asking for any kind of goth/industrail type of nightlife, we were directed to luvafair downtown. We were thinking along the lines of Embers on a wednesday night, but such was not what was delivered. At first sight things looke dvery promising--the physical space of the club itself was great and there were a number of cute goth girls and boys. I don't know if we were misdirected, or if there really isn't much of that kind of scene, but aside from 1 Placebo song, 1 Skinny Puppy song, and an industrial-type Cure cover, the night was full of System of a Down, Disturbed, and Incubus. Not really the sort of music I enjoy when out upon the dance floor------oh well.
I am now able to check one more wee item off of my lenghty 'To do' list. Absinthe is now legal in Canada, seemingly a recent occurance from my impression. I have but 3 days left before it's off to Boston to meet my next ship and home for 6 months. I'm not sure if that is enough time to finish off my newly adopted bottle of Absinthe, but I'll give it a go. If only I had someone to share it with.......

I haven't really had a good a good night out yet this vacation--at least not one where the call of the dance floor is greater than the call of the bar?!? I've heard speak that the Back Room is a decent place to go, but my limited mobility this time around has thus far prevented me from attending.
I look foreward to any leads for weekend excursions. I need to immerse myself in good music to wards against 6 months of Salsa, Soca, and bad hip-hop!
