Settled into home a bit now. Still another month until I go back out. It's nice to have such a long vacation, but at teh same time, 8 weeks of no income is pretty uncomfortable. I'm already pretty much broke and ready to start selling things. Unloading some CD's and PS2 games should net me at least enough for 1 more weekend out before I...

Whew! It's been awhile, but I have returned. It's not quite the Triumphant Return to Land I once spoke about, but oh well! Been to the Med and back again! Off to Holland and then the Baltic in 7 weeks!!! Nothing witty now, been traveling for days and just checking back in ooo aaa

I keep thinking about the comment on the wall of the church in the opening of 28 Days Later. The End is Extremely Fucking Nigh! That really rings a bell with me, I just need to figure out--the end of, What? I know that I need to find a new course, but I don't have a map. I do have a dodgy compass that gives...

The eyes are still a bit blurry, but each fay they get a little better--I'm sure if I slept more and spent less time staring at computer screens they may heal even quicker. What would I do to keep busy, yet not spend money while I wait the next 5 weeks before I go to my next ship?

Off to Vancouver on Thursday for a...

Ahhh, finally the contact lense "bandages" are out!! Things are still a bit hazy, but I'm told that is to be expected for about another week as the eyes heal. Even then, there is such an improvment. No glasses, no contacts and solution!!!

My eyes have always been very light-sensitive, and that is actually worse at the moment. I'm told that it will improve with...

Not much time---I'm being very NAUUUGHTY.

I'm not supposed to be using computers for another 12 hours or so.

I returned from Vancover this afternoon. I had my pre-surgical testing on the 27th. They dtermined that PRK would be best to correct my rather high prescription. Had the surgery the 28th and slept most of the day except wen my friend, who kindly came with...

Well, long time no see.

Just got Home after traveling nearly 24 hours. Barcelona to JFK, JFk to San Francisco, San Francisco to Portland--whew! I'm now in that up so long mode that I can't sleep despite being completely kanckered. It doesn't help that I went back in time 9 hours and my mind seems to think that it is nearly noon and that I...

Hmm, back to the journal. It's been so long since I updated.

This whole war thing is so surreal. Being out at sea we are pretty cut off from the 'real' world. Although CNN (confilct news neverending) is always on, it plays out more like a made for TV action movie than anything else.

I think the only thing keeping at least somewhat grounded is...

Hmmm, maybe I have had some New Years revelations, but they were so low-key I missed them.

Being out at sea definatly has its downside. It's a tangled situation. The Outside World can seem so far away with little to no TV, radio, film, etc. At the same time the world is made accesible as we share out lives and living spaces with people from...

New Year eh? Is it, is it really??

I can't really tell since nothing is different. Just once I wish to be visited by some grand epiphany or earth shattering change on New Year's Eve. Why bother celebrating it when the next day is merely a load of the same old crap--albiet from a blurier and mayhap slightly hungover perspective.

I feel so wishy-washy lately....
