To much in life drags us down. So, let’s lift up with words. I would like everyone to write on at least one person’s page their two favorite things about that person. At least one of the comments should be personality or character based.

It has not been a good year, like it has for a lot of people. Just feeling isolated and lost. Like life moves on, and I'm vanishing in the distance. I know I'm not alone in this. Just simple posts/comments help a lot. An acknowledgement that I still exist, that I'm still noticed.

The time will come for assistance, but hopefully we still have some good years left.  Luckily their mental state is still good.  My biggest fear is watching them go through dementia or Alzheimer's.  Just in a difficult part now, and sometimes i need emotional help.

My mom is still in the hospital, long road to recovery. And then I find that my dad is struggling with headaches and chest pain. Stress is my best guess. Does call the doctor? No. Generational thing is my guess. He doesn't talk to anyone, just bottles it all up. I have no siblings, so no one for assitance. Most of my friends have young...

Thanks @rare.  She is healing slowly.  But moving forward.

Sadly, back into the hospital. Luckily I have a little bit of a distraction here. Thanks all.

Just a reminder, after 20 years, still one of the all-time beauties, @sid

My mother is in hospital with a serious blood infection. Because of high covid numbers, I can't see her. Because of her poor health, I can't call her. I feel helpless, scared, and everything feels empty and alone. I'm an only child, the decisions are mine to make, to fail. Everyone, hug your mother. Tell them you love them.

Well, my mom is improving, hopefully only one more week in hospital.. then three to four weeks in a care facility before she can go home.

To whom follows, my mom is still in the hospital.  She has already had two surgeries, including one to remove an abscess on her spine.  She was showing signs of getting better, but sounded very confused tonight.  To make it harder, she asked if she can come home.

I have been exposed to Covid. No positive test or symptoms, just exposure. I have had the vaccine. So, now quarantine for two weeks. Better safe than sorry. I'm not too nervous, but my compromised immune system puts me at some risk. I suppose one advantage to this site is friendship with distance. I am somewhat anxious and want to talk, but I don't want...

I'm feeling better and the test came back negative.  I have no idea how frontline workers handle this shit.  I had a freak out over a simple call from someone I hung out with just days ago, and they told me they just tested positive.
inkedodie:
Sadly, the person I was exposed to, my 80 year old neighbor I help, has started losing her smell.  She is vaccinated, but I'm nervous for her.  She has been a family friend for 20 years.  A 2nd grandmother to me.

Here are some pictures. Ignore the cardboard and grass clipping. Cut grass makes great compost and plain, uncolored cardboard makes a great divider for layers of compost, and will breakdown into compost itself. I am slowly composting and raising the ground up to pond level. I will have good rich soil next spring. The potted plants will go in a raised flower bed next spring....

@melyse has tagged me in a questionnaire. Who can say no to her.

1.Any travel, vacation or Holiday plans for summer?

Sadly, no travelling in these fun times. So, I travel to my garden.

2.Any summer traditions you or your family have?

Only from when I was a kid. Most of our family traditions where around Christmas break.

3.With the hot summer we are experiencing....

Sorry to hear about the struggle.  I’ve had minor depression my whole life, sometimes major.  But through a crapload of therapy, lots of self help reading, and some good new med combo?  Carefully titrated on two meds?  I have been happy as hell for 6 years or so.  I still get blue, and the depression is still there.  But i became a huge fan of all the new tools in mental health these days.  I self taught mindfulness.  Just read eckhardt tolle really.  And then another therapist recommended “the untethered soul”.  We added a new med i’d never tried one day.  And it made a bit of a crack in my mental cement.  I have felt true happiness ever since but not just from the meds.  Also mindfulness, cognitive therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, i enjoy all of it now.  I leaned quite a bit helping my son and wife out of anxiety.  So i would just say even treatment resistance can be overcome👍🙏🏼✌️❤️

I've had it most of my life, due to chronic illness and poor doctors.  I've learned to keep it mostly under control through mental manipulation, as I call it.  I listen to things, watch things, use certain lighting, etc to trick my mind that I'm in a place of comfort.  Something that reduces stress and brings relaxation.  Example, I have fond memories of trips to London, so I'll play sounds from the London underground to trick my brain into being there.  May sound weird, but anxiety ignores logic, so why treat it with logic.  My problem is something will trigger an anxiety attack, and then it snowballs before I can control it.  Thanks for the input.  Anything helps.

We had three straight days of 116 Fahrenheit, 47 Celsius, and my garden is a bit battered. But I still persevere on. It's growth, and the hum of the bees bring me piece. The squirrels give me a laugh. Pic one is a crocrosmia, and the hummingbirds love it. Pics two and three are my Hollyhocks, grown from seed. Pic four is my little Echinacea...
