so the subbing today....the secretary forgot to check "No Sub Needed". so I sat in the Career Center, talked with some people there, tried to get ideas of how to get into the schools, and told one student who said she was too late to apply for the Fall Semester of college "Call the Admissions Office and talk to them, you never know."

so I just finished watching the entire new series of Battlestar: Galactica again (4 seasons worth)...yes, I skipped the episodes I didn't care for (the side stories and such).
and I'm re-reading the Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher...in order now, so things make more sense (I initially read his latest book then went back and started from the beginning and then read the short...

Heh. I'm on Dead Beat, whatever # that book is. After I'm done, I'll go to Barnes and Noodle and actually buy them from the beginning. Good book so far. Wish there was more time in the day. There is a good thing about being unemployed. You get to read books.
coccinelle:
hehe i did the same with my favourite czech scifi-fantasy writter
i started at the newest books and then older and then his first short stories, it was fantastic feeling
ahh, the joys of working late nights....
a cashier was telling me a story about our new STL-in Training (I call him Rope-A-Dope...he's clueless....last night, he left 3 clean tills with at least $300 in each till on the back of a register...thankfully I was there to watch over them)....
three people come into this cashier's line (mother, father, son). they are buying alcohol. per...

i used to be a front-end manager for a few years ...i'm with you, "...ya fuck with my crew? ...we don't need your business ...buh-bye". I'd have a long chat with the dope, too.
miss_cellophane:
My view? If I were that chick, Id have no issues telling the STL how much of a dick he is. He has acted as though the customers behaviour was acceptable, then he can cop the same.
so I believe Saturday the 9th marked 10 days straight of measurable snow fall in my area.
and now I"m sitting there, looking at the Weather Channel Desktop application telling me its 1 F (-17 C) out. yup, its freezing out!
what else? gotta do some photoshoping...took a picture of the STL that put out the microwave fire (reference last blog)....the plan is a picture...

We have no fault insurance here so basically once the insurance company pays out you can't get anymore money, once you take the settlement that is it. Its very, very rare for anyone to sue over a car accident here.

Yuck. Those potatoes would be nasty.
I do love cooking potatoes in a slow cooker though. Ours is about 4 on high and 6-8 on low. It's a small one we bought in a second hand store.

so last night, some customer set the public microwave on fire. she put her travel mug (with metal) in the microwave, causing the problems.
then she asked the night manager if the store would replace her mug for free....she said she puts her mug in the microwave at home all the time and has had no problem.
whatever. if I were the manager, I would...

Do they happen to have a career as a travel agent? I am no longer surprised by such action since working on a service desk. Travel agents are natural idiots.
sireneimi:
Wow. I thought it was common knowledge not to put metal in the microwave.
so last night, leaving for work, I forgot I had my bluetooth hooked on my pants pocket. I get in my car and realize its not there.
I look around in the snow and do not see it, so hoping that it either fell out in my car (negative, since it disconnected from my phone) or was in my house.
got home today, drove in,...

Thanks. It is going to be a bit of a bitch getting things sorted, but all will be well at the end.
so didn't sleep much last night either. then again, since I slept until around 3 PM Thursday, went to bed at 11:30 PM, and awake again at 2:30 AM to work for 8 1/2 hours (and then add 1/2 hour for lunch....so a 9 hour shift) pushing carts to come home, make some really nice pulled pork and then a quick nap to wake up...

Can you really get $75 to $100 for Frog of Thunder? If so, I'd sell it.

I didn't get to sleep until 6am.
so Happy New Years all....here are my resolutions (again)....
1. start my career, not a job (hopefully substitute teaching will help with this one)
2. pay off 2 cards (it relates to the first one)
3. get laid.
what about you?
now, its not even midnight...time to get ready for bed, I get to wake up around 5:30 AM tomorrow morning, get to work at...

Hey wow those sound like my resolutions!
my aunt who has CP just put her cell phone through the washing machine (she's on a family share plan with myself, my sister, my mom, and my sister's boyfriend....my aunt is in a wheel chair now and travels to the mall...and yes, she has mild to moderate MR).
my sister's text reply...
"I take it that the phone is now spotless."
and you think...

I just gave up on them entirely. It seemed pointless after a while. I much liken fulfilling resolutions to snipe hunting
I think shooting each other in the face all day with Nerf guns will be cathartic
