Yay for Christmas! Mine is starting tonight as well, but not because of a fabulous dinner...We are getting our tree! To me it just isn't Christmas until I have the smell of pine in my house and I'm surrounded by lights and cheesy santa figurines. I'd love some more snow to go with it all, but only time will tell on that one.

As a lover of both your football and American football, I try to stay clear of petty little 'That's not football!' disputes, but here let me start one: Wait. No, I won't pick a fight, so much as ask a question that's always bothered me: Why do they call off soccer games for weather? Of course, typhoons, or lightning or landslides should cancel all sport, but when it comes to rain and snow, I can't see how a game should ever be called off. They'll play American football in any condidtions so long as there isn't imminent danger to the fans, and I personally love to go be miserably cold and wet in a foot of snow for a game. SO: under what circumstances do they cancel soccer, and how do you feel about it?

btw the Fisk book is out of print in paperback here until February. Oh well.

Completely unsolicited, an old friend of mine from the UK recommended the Fisk book to me. Funny, eh? I'll definitely pick it up soon. He also suggested John Snow. When I lived over there I never had a TV, so I'm not familiar with him, but my friend tells me he's a great one. What do you think?
