Self-Help Backfired Again

7

I picked up 'How to Win Friends and Influence People' thinking it would help my social life. I'm only halfway through, and I've already managed to accidentally offend my mailman. At this rate, I'll be completely isolated by chapter 10. Anyone else have self-help books completely backfire on them?

aw that sucks, but could you speak to him and explain or it ended just awkward?
cheekywhisper:
@DONCELLA   It ended pretty awkwardly, so I think my next project is Chapter 3: How to Win Back Your Mailman with Home-Baked Cookies. Wish me luck, because right now he drops the mail and runs!

Absolutely @cheekywhisper. I always do my homework before sets. Study the girls, the place, the outfit, time of day. Everything needs to be fine tuned. Glad you like it!
cheekywhisper:
It’s clear you really do your homework, @ALTSTUDIOCANADA! 📚 The planning definitely paid off because managing a three-person frame is no joke. @CHIKITINA, @GINARY, and @RAINBOWLUST look completely flawless together. ✨ How long did it take to coordinate the lighting to balance everyone so perfectly? 🙌

What are your favorite diabetes-friendly snacks and drinks? 🥗🍹

I’m looking for some delicious, low-carb options that won't spike blood sugar. I'm trying to help out a coworker and get some real inspiration!Let's be honest, drinking plain water all day gets boring fast. What are your absolute go-to options when you want a flavorful drink or a quick bite? Also, I just learned that whole fruit doesn't automatically mean a major sugar spike because the...

I love my zero sugar drink packets I get from Walmart to add to water. Or any zero sugar sodas / teas. For a sweet treat fix I like zero sugar candies. They make them from Reese’s, Hersheys and even Jolly Ranchers! As for whole foods, berries are low in sugars. Protein is going to be their best friend! Eggs are a great source, as is peanut butter, avocados, and protein powders as well. Cheeses are good too! Try to have your friend pair every snack / meal with some protein to help with sugar levels. 💜
cheekywhisper:
@liberalcat13 and @chelsiegh  Wow, thank you both for these great tips! LiberalCat13, love the hummus idea. Chelsiegh, the protein-pairing trick is perfect. I really care about this coworker—he was my instructor when I was an HVAC student, taught me the ropes, and never gave up on me when others did. I'm excited to share these snacks and drinks with him. Thanks for the inspiration!

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a Total Masterpiece! 🕸️🎬

Managed to catch the new Spider-Man movie last night and I'm still thinking about it! The storyline has so much incredible energy, but honestly, Zendaya completely steals the show. Her performance is amazing and brings so much depth to the screen. If you haven't caught it in theaters yet, make sure you do. Easily a 9.5/10 for me! Have any of you seen it yet? Let...

I'll have to check it out. When superhero movies appeared, I was surprised by how good they were since they were based on silly comics made for kids that I eventually lost interest in while still one of those kids. Good writing, acting and everything else will always transcend what can seem like insurmountable weaknesses in the source material. They eventually turned into mostly rubbish but we're finally seeing signs of quality returning. Of course, a lot of people love rubbish, but we can leave that alone for now. 😉
cheekywhisper:
@jozsef  I totally get what you mean! Good writing and strong acting definitely make a huge difference, no matter what the source material is. That's exactly why I think this one stands out—it feels like they put real effort into the story this time. Let me know what you think if you end up checking it out! 🍿

The Real Boss 👑

Here is my little guy acting like he has been the one grinding out there in the hot 130-degree attic all day! 😂 Seriously though, between running service calls and getting stepped on by the cats, this lap nap was well earned. Who needs a guard dog when you have a Chihuahua running the household?

My Dream SG Set Concept: Beach Volleyball 🏐☀️

9
I was just thinking about what my absolute dream modeling set concept would look like on here, and hands down, it would have to be an action-packed beach volleyball set.
We have some incredible coastal spaces and sandy courts out here, and the energy of a sporty, high-intensity outdoor shoot would be insane. Instead of a typical studio setup, picture this:
  • The Vibe: High-energy, sun-drenched,...

Texas Medicaid is a Joke

8
I have a neighbor who cannot walk at all. He relies entirely on a wheelchair and assistance to get around his home. As if that physical challenge isn’t enough, he also has documented, severe hearing loss in both of his ears.
You would think that a healthcare system designed for people with disabilities would help him. But right now, Texas Medicaid enforces a rule that...

A scientist in the field of human behavior and perceptions, who is also a medical doctor, told me at one   time that there are those who call themselves conservative who believe that giving people anything above the barest minimum will remove their incentive to work and potentially bring all of society down if such largess becomes widespread. We can call this belief a combination of ignorance and fear. Another aspect of this is a binary system that has no room for variable responses to differing situations. Do we encourage laziness or not? Of course we do not.
cheekywhisper:
@jozsef   Well said. It really does come down to ignorance. Keeping a system rigid and broken just to force a political point leaves real people stranded. Thanks for reading and sharing that perspective.

Why I Break Down Every Single Time I Watch Hachi

5
I can say without hesitation that no movie completely destroys me the way Hachi: A Dog's Tale does. It doesn't matter how many times I watch it, or how prepared I think I am—the second Hachi sits down at that train station, I lose it. Knowing that this is a completely true story makes the heartbreak almost impossible to handle. Watching his absolute, unwavering loyalty...
