Crippling boredom.

And with it, as always, come the mean reds.

Constantly checking my emails, hoping for something, anything, from MathGirl. A message from her would be fantastic right now. But there's been nothing for two weeks.

In my current mood I attribute it to paranoid, jealous thoughts that she's found a boyfriend. This is the evil and irrational part of me thinking. The better...

"When you see the Robot Devil, tell him I'm-a comin'!"

I think I'll go to the bookstore today. I have to try to find a copy of Gibson's Burning Chrome, which is a book of short stories which includes "Johnny Mnemonic." This is the first appearance of Molly Millions, "razor girl," who I believe was ripped off wholesale for The Matrix.

Pretty soon...

I just spend a lot of time in the kitchen and doing the dishes so I'm always all up ons the sink. *shudders* Toilets can be flushed and the end! It just happened so fast and the sink was right there. At least I already did the dishes so there wasn't a huge pile of pukey bowls and plates and UTENSILS puke blush

You should definitely go do something.

I used to be really good at wasting days, when I had no reason not to, and I didn't know how much better it felt not to.

I'm reading about the movie The Island with Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson in this weeks Entertainment Weekly (every time I buy a DVD at Best Buy they give me a 6 week subscription or something; I've been getting EW for over a year now, and haven't paid anything).

I think I actually want to see it, if only for the fact that Scarlett Johansson...

Yeah, I'm actually looking foreward to The Island. Might be entertaining. I'm an on again off again Ewan fan, we'll see how this turns out. I also tend to have interesting crushes. I tend to like people more on personality, like to the extremes.

As for damn girls getting pregnant. I hate bitches like that. Do these girls even realize that it means a fucking parasite for the rest of their lives. Its not just something you can play around with and then get rid of once its purpose is fulfilled? And they sure as hell aren't doing it because they love the guys. Its all another control thing, it pisses me off. I was pregnant once on accident, did everything I could not to be. Thank god for miscarriages, literally. Its just a very hot subject with me, heh.

I've thought about keeping a journal for my dreams, but if anyone were to read it, it would be like a horror story. I kill alot of people, and I usually have about three dreams a night. I really should start recording them, it would be interesting to see what people think. Or something like that.

Anyway, thats enough rambling from me.
aaardvark:
Same here, I've got huge issues with trust, but of course, its easier for me to not worry about getting pregnant because I can control it more. But on other issues, I entirely agree. Its really hard to trust people these days because it seems like everyone is just out to get what they want, fuck anyone who stands in their way.

And yeah, when the guy finally finds out that that is what happened, does that girl think she'll be able to make him stay? Thats pretty out there.

Yesterday I re-read Stephenson's The Diamond Age. It's pretty good. I'd forgotten that Miss Matheson, the headmistress of Nell's school, was YT from Snow Crash.

I love how Stephenson is always alluding to his other works. Of course, the three books of The Baroque Cycle and Cryptonomicon are closely related, so there are all sorts of references like that. But I think Cryptonomicon...

are there no computer-type jobs that you can apply for? you would've been perfect in the IT department at the old engineering firm i used to work at. if you can do that kind of stuff for your mom, you can surely do it for a floor full of folks in cubicles.

also, in 1977 a couple of smart dudes created D&D. most positively, definitely no smarter than you. so get crackin' mr. ideas!

you know what i think about Stephenson, and how similar some of his characters are across novels? i think they're probably figures in his life, that he writes into the novel. so Carl Hollywood = Goto Dengo = friend from college. you know? or something?

kiss

If they dont notice me I might cry! I would be so upset, but then again I might be happy just to see them in person! I will be the happiest person! WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEW! sooo much fun! so what is new in your life? wink blush

I've been playing MUDs and other online text-based multiplayer games for a long time now, most notably DragonRealms and the nearly defunct Federation. The only game I currently play, and work for, is its successor, Federation II.

Federation II is not a fantasy game with magic and swords and what have you. I sort of miss having a classical-type RPG to play. I...

WOW~ that was a long entry you posted! Your hands musta hurt after that! HOLY! Anyways, I am going to try my best to kiss him that many times, will it work? prolly not but it will be fun trying! biggrin

So I've finished Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Bleak.

I was doing some research this morning, because I was curious. It's turns out that MN has voted for a Democratic presidential candidate in every election since 1932 except for Eisenhower in 1952 and 1956 and Nixon in 1972.

We voted for Mondale. The only state to do so (DC also voted for him). Isn't it great?

Prior to that we tended to vote Republican,...

Hmm, raccoons, squirrels, and spiders are all my friends... I think we might have a problem here.

UPS isn't low! I used to have fantasies about working for UPS. I think it would be fun. And it would be something, and something is better than nothing. You could always find something better later.

Itch, itch, itch. Sometimes my arm itches like mad. Fortunately it usually happens just when it's time to apply a new, thin layer of goo. This makes it stop for a while.

This morning I saw three purple finches at my birdbath - a male and two females. They all flew in together, and then they all flew off. I think they're in a three-way...

Dirty birds.

i heart this phrase.

I'll put a bandage over it or something.

they'll probably be cool with you doing that. or maybe they won't say a thing to you about it. like sometimes i go to a department store, and i head for the dressing room with 7 things to try on, and there will be a sign at the entrance that says "Only 5 Items Allowed in Dressing Room" and i'll look at the attendant, and she'll say "go on in."

don't let ANY machines eat your head!

well go you, with your bad self on that update! rockin' it!

and thanks for the sweet comment today. he he he.

blush

aaardvark:
Yeah, I thought about parking it in visibility, but there is no way that I would actually stay awake to make sure its alright, as I live in a big apartment building, and it is not close to me.

As for booby traps, I'm not really a mastermind. I'll get someone else to think of something.

For those who missed it, my new ink is displayed in yesterday's journal!

So, I think I'm really scraping the bottom of the employment barrel now. I have a thing at UPS tomorrow. I could be a package handler! Yay!

That sounds kind of perverse. "Package handler." I can see it now, people asking me, "Ah, so you're a gay pornographer?"

All right, all right...

your new tattoo is most excellent! awww! i just smile thinking of the fact that you got a LOTR reference inked into your skin. that's truly beautiful.

and! you just provided me with a full 20 minutes of enjoyment, when you gave me that link to the geek t-shirts website! i had never seen that before! so RAD! i bet you saw alot of those shirts at school, being a math major and all.

rant! bring the rant!

you know, any kind of job is still a job. they're good to have, and if they're bad enough, the desperation will push you to get creative about your next employment destination.

post-modernist, self-righteous, pseudo-intellectual hackism

. in my world, i call them theoryheads.

got their heads all full up with thinking something to pieces, so that they lose contact with a lived reality. and with their own personal integrity.

anyone whose words and actions don't match up is pretty damn worthy of your scorn, i do think.

and i agree, the people you're refering to in Cryptonomicon are an excellent portrayal of how some liberals just don't deserve respect, even if you consider yourself a liberal as well.

I've decided "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" may be one of the best song titles ever. It's a good song, too.

Ain't no doubt about it
We were doubly blessed
Cause we were barely seventeen
And we were barely dressed.

All right, so that wasn't my experience at 17. But I'd always wished it.

I've got a picture of my new tattoo. Do you have...

So I got the new tattoo today, courtest of Dave at The Ink Lab. He's a good guy. I just got home, and don't have the bandages off yet, so I'll post a picture tomorrow.

Other than that there isn't much happening here. The job search has become desperate. Maybe I'll apply to UPS.

sophie:
you're so stoked. but you don't quite sound like it. i bet you're just tired. getting tiny holes punched in your skin and ink left behind takes alot out of a guy. i can testify.

i can't wait to see!

yeah, Sick, my dear, you need to live in lawrence. you would make a most excellent addition to our D&D group. you would totally love it methinks. you like reading and math. again i say: you would totally love it!

I've long held the idea that knowledge is an insidious thing. The more you obtain, the more you want. The more you must have. It's the Faustian pact.

My identification with Dr. Faust was strengthened earlier this spring when I was inducted to Phi Beta Kappa. Inductees are requires to sign their names in a giant book. Just before doing so, I said to...
