I've long held the idea that knowledge is an insidious thing. The more you obtain, the more you want. The more you must have. It's the Faustian pact.
My identification with Dr. Faust was strengthened earlier this spring when I was inducted to Phi Beta Kappa. Inductees are requires to sign their names in a giant book. Just before doing so, I said to the president of the chapter, who was running things and who was one of my professors,
"This is for my soul, then?"
He laughed, and then I signed my name.
This was all just a formality, however, as I had really exchanged my soul for knowledge many, many years before. Knowledge is evil like that.
So, it's Friday! I have no idea what I'm doing with my weekend. I'm sure I'll find something. I think today I'll play video games.
I've been playing The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind for about 2 years now. I play for a few weeks, then stop for a few months, then pick it up again. I still haven't finished it; it's an absolutely huge game. I think I'll start on it again today.
Or maybe I'll dig out The Sun Also Rises.
Have a good weekend everyone!

I don't think that's weird, I also can only listen to music taht suits my mood. There are a lot of things that I absolutely love, but if I'm just not in the right mood, they get on my nerves so much I have to violently turn them off.
