A couple more thoughts about Eno (not that I promise to "finish up"; in fact, I LOVE his appendix on Duchamp and might very well use it in here SOON):
-- He made a set of flash cards with rules/directions on them to use in the studio, as far back as his 1970s Talking Heads work. I belieeeve I first read about them in a...

I could potentially be provoked to sell a print of "Santa Lucia". My prices aren't exactly um... 'competitive'. My friendlier prices are usually $65 for an 8x10, $85 for an 11x14.

I was talking a bit about the bible to toaster. If I have a bible, it's A Year With Swollen Appendices, a great book by Brian Eno. Elaborate on great? It has unique, challenging opinions on society, art, and change in technology and the world. You get to read his diary (a year) which is so mind-bogglingly astute and full of concepts that he footnotes...

Uh oh...looks like our buddy plasticfangs forgot to pay his credit card bill. Hope he's back soon.

Do you have the Neil Young "Rust Never Sleeps" DVD? It's really good.

Too fucking sick to most more right now. Take care.

I have Bring It On, third season of Buffy (pre-ordered fourth for the little bit of Faith it has), and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back all on DVD. Eliza rocks my socks.

And I'm going for the job so I can get a killer discount. I don't know how much of a discount I would get, but any discount is a good discount. Wholesale discount? That's a wet dream.

I'm a rebel today, cuz I'm spending less than 3 hours on Suicide Girls! Yeah, I have to start satisfying my odd movie desires...if I can't satisfy any other desires, I might as well hit the odd movies.

Tonight's odd movie was the Hong Kong cop movie The Big Heat, dir. by Tsui Hark. Hark is the Hong Kong director who isn't John Woo. It...

Not much going on. Worked. Busy today. Had good thai food for lunch. Pondered Gary Numan a bit. "Cars" and "Are Friends Electric?" are fine songs, but I think "Me, I Disconnect from You" is his best. I could be wrong.

I watched Susan Sontag last night when I shoulda been sleeping. I have to remember to watch Book TV and British Parliament more on...

I don't know what's going on with your profile picture. Please explain it to me. Thank you smile

Also, the guy who plays Kelso on That '70s Show pisses me off for some inexplicable reason. I don't know. Maybe I just don't like how he looks? I'll tune in for Luke Wilson episodes, though. Man, he should probably have sex with me.

So many lovely people posting to my journal nowadays. That's cool. It really lifts my spirits up, as I have been less than stellar. People coming into my work lately have me feeling like...well, like Eric Bogosian at the end of his show in Talk Radio. I can't remember offhand his speech (I saw it 7 years ago) but I remember his emotional state. That's...

Morgan was asking "Don't all politicans lie?"

Well...it's true, money rules everything in the USA nowadays...and it's true the guys who signed the Constitution had slaves...and all politicians have to play a popularity contest, and toe party lines (if they're in the big parties, who win all the elections).

You could take these things, get really jaded, and say why vote?

Well, one of the...

I've been avoiding posting about politics for a few reasons: 1) as I said last journal, and on smatt's journals, I feel underinformed. I didn't want anyone to feel they were getting "MTV news" from me (i.e. dumb-ass news), 2) politics aren't fun, 3) politics especially aren't fun in the climate of violence/fear that exists today, 4) AHappyPocket is Republican and I consider myself mostly...

I would not mind converting to Islam simply because it means I have an excuse to cover my hair. Ha. Kidding.

Islam isn't a bad religion, though. I think, based on the Qu'ran, I like it better than Christianity and Judaism. It's a beautifully written text, and true Islam has some nice tenets. I just don't like how some people interpret it. And I don't like how some Muslims use the Qu'ran to oppress women. That's not cool.

You don't have to buy me bookshelves. I want to earn cash and buy those bookshelves myself. The work-study program at school needs to pay more cash.

I would say that I wouldn't mind having Mario Cuomo for president, but I'm 100% pro-Cherry. Cherry for prez! Woo!

The brand of syrup was Equate's nighttime. It's a wal-mart brand, I believe. Just the same as nyquil. I'm not allowed to have tylenol though so it's prolly just got that affect on me? Who knows. I had too much. And yes, it was a California Wildlife commercial. Us Californians, always on some kind of substance.

And thank you very much for the compliments smile

Yeah, more recent films do tend to look glossy. I don't like that if it's overdone. I really hate the color in 70s films, it looks faded to me. I dunno, is that when they switched from technicolor to whatever replaced it?
You don't owe me $3, I wanted to check out some of his stuff anyway!

Interesting drive to work this morning. I got to hear that Michelle Branch/Santana song twice. Dunno if you (i.e. whoever's reading this) thinks that's "wussy", but I think it's the best Santana song since "Oye Como Va". I'm surprised it wasn't up for a Grammy. It just DEMOLISHES Norah Jones, Eminem, or whoever.

Secondly, I got to hear "If You Leave me Now" by Chicago....

I like cheesy Canadian rock bands from the late 70's... but at least I don't like Chicago!

Only joking. At least it wasn't Journey, who's video game scared me for life.

I totally agree with your views on the Clash/Sex Pistols thing...you and Souljacker are definitely the most like-minded fellows to myself on this site...we should start our own board, and be all exclusive and not let anyone else join...hahaha..actually that's a terrible idea...but still; congrats on the great taste! biggrin

I've never wanted to go into management at work... but an offer has come up, and two people (including the current manager, who's leaving) are telling me I really should go for it.

Man. I'm not management material! I hate telling people what to do...then again, I sometimes have to in my current job...and it's better that I become manager than some DOUCHE who DOESN'T...

Sharon Stone was the highlight of the Golden Globes, you know. All that camerawhoring. Hee.

So let me get this straight; the Village People roadies need a manager? wink

Man; just don't get stuck being the manager who does everything himself, because he can't tell the other employees to do anything. You'll end up with an ulcer in three weeks' time. Don't kill youself over some dumb job! Well, good luck at any rate.

The Shmirnoff Triple Black is really good! It's like regular Shirnoff, but not as sweet or as citrusy...muy tasty.
