So ebin has started the CD- swap processes with me. I hope you other folks will too. Email me. I have finished one CD, and plan to make another of long songs to go with it, for anyone who wants to swap.

Thank you to all who answered questions - fil, Cherry, Telesis, Kikka, joss, souljacker, darkbunny...

Go write to Cherry. I mean, write to...

You are all over the fucking place. I like you. I always thought that Jeffrey Combs from the various HP Lovecraft movies and the FRIGHTENERS flick could do a badass avant-garde jazz show. Just a little taste of mania between the free jazz acid freak-outs.

1) Elliot Gould??? (it's been awhile)
2) Boba Fett cause he reminds me of Fistfull Of Dollars Clint Eastwood
3) Jordy 'cause as a youth I used to take women's hair stability unit and use it as his seeing device.
4) John Vernon's character because the deans always seem to lose despite their dedication to absurd visions of society and it amuses me.
5) ???

6-3-03 -- There are questions below, but first here is something I found interesting. This is a portion of the review of the Vietnam-War-oral-history Patriots which was in the last Wash. Post Book World:

It is most often the lesser-known figures in Patriots who deliver the deepest insight into the nature of this long and bloody war. The more unfamiliar they are, it seems, the...

I can never resist talking about myself. I wonder if that's more common than I think?

1. Classic Rock and New Rock the uses classic stylings (e.g., the Strokes)

2. Torpor!

3. 5/10. I've played, on a team at one point or another, football, tennis, swimming, and track & field. So far, swimming is my favorite.

4. Any number of CDs we carry in the car, ranging from Squirrel Nut Zippers, to Techno, to Punk, to Samba and Capoeira music

Some more of that art-for-it's-own-sake minimalism [the concept, not the SG member] that makes Cherry wanna puke

1. Silliest thing for sake of coolness?
I don't think I ever have done anything silly. People usually accept me as I am, fortunately.

2. Worst TV show ever?
I bet you're thinking F-Troop, but I liked F-Troop. Actually, I'm going to name a movie, and say "2001: A Space Travesty" with Leslie Nielson is the worst I've ever seen. Oh, and "She Spies", the TV show, is pretty shitty too.

3. Worst book ever read?
I've never finished a bad book, but I'd say this romance involving vampires that my ex made me read.

4. Hows the music collection arranged?
The bands/groups are arranged randomly, but their albums are all kept together. I notice I have a LOT of Queen.

5. How do your socio-politics relate to your parents'?
Totally dissimilar because they are barely the same.
Very similar because neither of us are actively political.

Oh yeah, and what are your answers?

rubbersoul:
1) I tattooed "Cheech Forever!" across my back in six-inch letters.
2) Um...Buffy (I know that will make me a target).
3) The Bible.
4) Alphabetical, baby. VERY organized.
5) Um...a little of both. I have NO idea why.

What about your answers?

Every time I open my MSN mail, there are 3 to 8 offers about "not having to pay bills" and "getting rid of debt" and "mortgage" this-or-that. Where do all of these leeching financial vampires come from? If I DID have a financial problem, which luckily I don't, I would discuss it first witih my parents or someone I could trust. I would never discuss...

Now you get to be the guy who goes there and says (in nasally voice): "you have that one, so why don't you have this one?" I always loved that when I was working at whole foods.
Actually, I hated it when people would say "but the whole foods in (Dallas/LA/New Orleans/Boston/Hell) carries it, why don't you?" I always wanted to answer "yeah, but I bet they don't have lefse!" tongue

I watched Metropolis for the first time last night. It's hard for me to analyze it just like any other movie cuz 1) it's from 1927, a "silent" movie which, in this version's case, had the original orchestral score, 2) I had so many ideas over the years of what it would look and be like...sometimes, you can set up a movie for failure if...

Beck is awesome.

I managed to catch the end of his performance in Glastonbury years ago. I missed most of him though as Aphex Twin (who was on a different stage from Beck...) was just too mad to stop watching half way through.

Reading an Anthology of Chinese Poems of the Sung Dynasty, I Pause to Admire the Length and Clarity of Their Titles

It seems these poets have nothing
up their ample sleeves
they turn over so many cards so early,
telling us before the first line
whether it is wet or dry,
night or day, the season the man is standing in,
even how much he...

...and speaking of movies that I like, I was pleased to read that Joseph Heller was indeed happy with the version of Catch 22 that Mike Nichols made. (For any of you out there that have read but not seen the movie, there are some instances where characters are compounded or are gone altogether, such as Hungry Joe and his cat nightmares.) Jospeh writes in...

I know nothing about this movie. Or any of those people or directors. I feel so out of the loop. I'm one of those weirdos that will find a few things that I like and stick with them, being almost narrowminded to the point where it's a LONG time before I check out anything new again. That's only with music and movies though. I can sit and watch the same good-IMO movies and listen to the same awesome cds I have and not get tired of it, and then my hands will grasp on something new-to-me. Does this make sense? Argh...must...get...rest...

Be careful with that cough syrup stuff. I'm not even supposed to be taking anything with tylenol or aspirin in it, but crikey, generic nyquil is sooooooooooooooooo fun. I don't do it as often as everyone thinks. But when I'm in pain, boy does a good amount of that stuff work wonders.
