It's amazing how much better I feel logging in and seeing some notes to me in my journal. Man, I felt pretty lousy earlier. Tense day at work, and I was concerned about some email I got...but now I'm feeling cheered, and Nic and I are learning a hell of a lot about penguins. "Macaroni penguins"? Who knew?

Boondock Saints. Hmm, any fans of the film here would...best be advised not to read the next few sentences. I'll give you some time to flip to a board or journal.....doo dee doodoo de doodoo. Okay, are they gone? Boondock Saints is one of the WORST movies I've seen in a long, long time. I couldn't even finish it. There is so much badness contained within it that I can only say I'd find a repeat viewing of Haiku Tunnel, Ernest Goes to Camp, or Aliens From LA infinitely preferable. Where to start? There is nothing approaching a credible occurrence. Sean Patrick Flanery jumps off a 5-story roof onto a guy. He is "knocked out" but a couple hours bed-stay in a hospital and he's okay to go. Okay, suspend disbelief? Fine. Okay, well the main characters are going around "revenge"-killing guys. Why? Cuz the guys are evil. Why are they "evil"? Cuz they're in the Russian mafia. Meanwhile, their best friend is in the AMERICAN MAFIA!! And he is the most annoying prick I've ever seen in a movie!!! I would rather share a bus trip to Michigan with Jar Jar Binks and Brad Pitt's character from 12 Monkeys on my adjoining seats than 5 seconds with this annoying "Rocco" prick. He makes Rocco from SCTV's The Days of the Week look smart!!! It was in the middle of him yelling at his girlfriend that I said, "Okay, I've had enough," and hit stop. Willem Defoe's detective character's ridiculous strutting around is neither funny nor fun. Get a haircut, Willem. As someone points out on Amazon, him listening to music on a Walkman while investigating can be read by some (read:me) as a ripoff of Gary Oldman in The Professional.
Zero stars. One of the worst I've seen. Annoying gimmicky wannabe-Woo slo-motion and cutting crap, too. Bad script, bad jokes, bad action, bad direction, ridiculous action sequences with no credibility, characters whose motives make no sense at all, annoying characters, and Flanery looks way too much like David Cassidy. I know, he was born that way and is "cuter" than me, but I mean...it's like watching a tough-guy movie starring a Donnie-Osmond-lookalike for god's sake. Zero stars.
