I live in Manhattan, and Ive been going to the Chinatown Fair arcade every weekend since I was four. As long as I can remember there have always been patrons from various backgrounds, ethnicities, genders, and walks of life But I have yet to hear a single racial slur slip past anyone's lips for use in a negative context. Trash talk is a given, but it's generally amongst friends and delivered in a purely jocular manner.

Wow that’s pretty cool dude. Love to build an arcade machine myself but it’s so expensive. Love playing on the arcades still. I remember playing and completing a lot of fighting games on it. Especially Virtual Fighter back in the day. Also Time Crisis was the best!! 👍🏻

Hey!

I'm planing on building an arcade machine. I was thinking of using a PC that boots with a mame emulator and hooking up the arcade style buttons to the decoder from a keyboard that I took apart. I was going to use a old tv screen for the display. …

Sounds sensible to me.

I know arcade cabinets are a pretty popular subject over at Instructables. They might have covered some of the specifics, but it seems doable. I think I might "cheat" and use a regular flat screen computer monitor instead of a more authentic tv screen.

Gamespot.com reports that Namco will bring Mario Kart to Japanese arcades. I hope they bring it to the US. That would be cool.

They'd be nuts not to. Mario Kart is one of the few videogames that just about everyone is comfortable playing.

JEEEEEEEZUS! Arcade Fire rules. I know this entry is late- but what a show. They rocked out and then some in edmonton and made a mockery of the venue, of which every hipster in edmonton loathes. Way to go Arcade fire! Despite reds' shitty sound they made an acoustical masterpiece which I would say competes with their album.
The energy was so warm and friendly...

Tonight, I was chatting with my dad and he was talking up a story he heard on NPR. Then, the conversation veered a bit and he mentioned he had heard about this band from Canada on there - "Arcade something." I was like "Arcade Fire?" And he was like "Yeah, it was interesting, and their music was pretty good too."

So there you go. My...

So I was thinkin' about having some more pictures done. I liked the pictures I had with the arcade game cabinet, so maybe I'll stick with the arcade theme. The fun part about owning a video arcade is that I have a nice little collection of games I can sprawl about on. I'll see if I can get that done this weekend after closing time....
