When my account expires in a month or so, I'll be taking a hiatus.

If we haven't already exchanged real world contact info, and we ought to, now's the time.

@tadkill Indeed. It's been such an excellent community here. And now it's not. If it gets to being good again, I'd like to hear about that.

I'd like to observe the end of the story, so I'll hang some more, although you're probably right, as usual.  If you find something more than 2" deep could you shoot up some flares?

Lol! The only thing that could be better than this would be a curvaceous SG in that zero gravity environment, like Phecda. Hmmm...Lol. It appears, agent, that I am in both my worlds nothing but a filthy old man under the petite, perky exterior! I am just saying that shoot must have been so much fun for all parties involved.
baudot:
@Lumo With that petit, perky exterior, there are few who will begrudge you being a filthy old man.

And yes, @Phecda in zeroG would be a vision. As she's gotten to be a fitness fanatic, it's only made her unearthly curves stand out more. She'd be a fine candidate for the SG astronaut program.

I'd welcome you aboard the Nostromo as a representative of the Colonial Marines any day.

The holiday is everywhere, even where I can't miss it, in the Google Doodle. Google is hosting micro-stories collected by the folks from This American Life, which is as excellent as you'd expect.

I can't help but feel a bit rotten about coming up on this holiday again, and being essentially solitaire. I'm not good at falling for the people who fall for me. Haven't...

Hey it could be worse. You could be married and come home to someone who shares a bed with you but still not only is not eager to hear what your day was like but doesn't give a rat's ass. :D
ateh:
This Valentine's Day I thought only of hearts, hearts all around, beating in the dark of their bone cages.  Neighbor hearts, kid hearts, bird hearts, squirrel hearts, all meat and blood and plaques.  Nothing to do with love, or even with companionship.  What a strange symbol for an even stranger holiday.

Link me to your favorite recent posts, please.

With the site re-design, it seems the hot-girl focus of SG has been turned up to 11. Pleasant as that is, it's drowning out all the other content and community I come here for. So hey, friends. Point me to the OTHER stuff you've loved since the reboot.

What are the best posts of the new site?

2013 : The Year 1990's Science Fiction Became Everyday Life

March 2013

Spaceflight Goes Corporate

Big Tech often gets pioneered by governments, and it rarely gets affordable to the public until two companies have started competing to turn a profit at it. That's why I'm excited to say that the first corporate flight to the International Space Station happened in March of 2013, with a

I got back to my hometown (wee Mobile, Alabama) early for the holidays, before any of the old town friends. Spending the extra time reading old 1st Edition D&D modules.

Thanks, google, for today's doodle, reminding us of Admiral Grace Hopper. She invented the first compiler. That's the thing that turns a programming language into the actual electrical signals that make your computer run. Before Grace, if you wanted to program a computer, you had to translate your ideas into 1's and 0's yourself. And each computer was different. With the compiler, we programmers could...

It's a BBC TV show. Sci Fi? Intrigue? It's hard to say. But it does a twist on the Amnesia storyline that I haven't seen done before, and I'm enjoying it immensely. Anybody out there want to watch it at the same time and compare notes?

Songs get tied to characters and stories for me. It's the same for you, eh?

This one goes with a character I've had rolling around in my head for a couple years now. She's an archetype, for a game I've been writing on and off for years. Fantasy, roleplaying, tabletop. D&Dish, only not. The way the game is built, characters tend to fall into one...

Well, see, being amazing at DOTA would be first prize ;)

I remember this shoot.  Madonna was the hottest thing in existence, in the history of many young male minds (and a few female ones too!) and so Penthouse paid someone for these pics...I think many of us were looking for something uber-sexed and instead got an artsy girl...   I will say this...one day I'll put together a list of girls who were SG before SG was conceived.  Madonna (and Joan Jett amongst others) would be on it.  One could say without Madonna, maybe the collective female conscious would be different and somehow SG would not have been born.
