Instead of "right" and "wrong" perhaps it would be accurate to tell people about "what is going to be responded to with aggressive confusion" and "what doesn't challenge habits of thinking." -Xio

You end up asking yourself at some point, "whats something I've accomplished that makes me happy, no-matter how insignificant?"

My recent nerdy accomplishment:
This is probably one of the lamest accomplishments in the world, but I'm more impressed with myself for creating a gaming community that operates between different game stores. The short version: there's a tabletop game where you fly space ships from Star...

Quitting Weed for Graduate School Sucks; or: Smoking-up with Marx

I've been waking and baking for eight years straight and that's just not conducive to doing anything productive. I'm not saying that you can't get anything done while stoned, all undergrad work shows the contrary, just that I need to stop and figure out how to handle everything before thinking about picking it back up...

In hindsight, it probably would have been better to use what I wrote here as part of the assignment, instead of doing the same rant in two places.

Couple weeks ago my friend of 7 years, Cathy, decided to tell me that she just realized she liked me as more than just a friend. We met at school and I like to say that we got together and broke up the on the same day, but the truth is it was never a real relationship. Seven years of occasional hanging-out (or awkward dates,...

My studies into Marxism have led me to an economic philosophy known as Distributism. Essentially it rejects socialism and capitalism as products of the ruling elite. In Distributism the means of production are shared, however private property is retained. The problem with it is that the body that keeps balance between the nation-state and the private market is THE CATHOLIC CHURCH... yeah... the whole thing...

Writing another Catch-22 inspired short story, but actually publishable this time (in my opinion). It regards the increasing privatization/brand-naming of the military, along with the use of those oh-so-controversial drones. It reads kinda like a screenplay but that seems to be the direction of literature these days, so I think I'm safe.

According to my girlfriend, I have a crush on my activist acquaintance, Xio......

Arbitrary Blog Post!

Wrote a short story after reading Catch-22 again. I still can't get "Help the bombardier--I'm the bombardier, I'm alright" out of my head (remembering Alan Arkin saying it in the movie). Of course, the short story ended up being a lot like Catch-22... or at least an imitation of it. I did the same thing after reading Less Than Zero and Kafka...

Just finished up an entry on my stoner blog that I haven't updated in over a year. It's short-short stories about my encounters with various people/historical figures, where much weed is smoked. You may want to check out the first entry: Dick Cheney, as its far less self-referential than the rest. I also recommend the posts about Mikhail Gorbachev (Jan 2010), Bill Murray (March 2010)...

Rant about Cathy

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

Cathy has contacted me again. She does this every once and a while, although less often now. She is fucking crazy and I love her for it... just not in the way where...

So Occupy Philly has turned into a nightmare. The anarchists essentially control the whole governing body at this point, its just not worth fighting for a democratic body of maybe 20-40 participants that has no authority and has yet to make a lasting decision. The majority of people there are now the homeless. It looks like a refugee camp... seriously.

They're supposed to move so...

I've been at Occupy Philly for the past couple weeks, off and on. It's like Occupy Wall-street but with Flyers fans. There's about 300 tents out there right now, which is triple what we started with. It's cool to visit and help out, but at the same time you can see the lack of organization and political infighting. There's call and response chant being...
