Fathre-spawn : The 40 Week 7 Round Up/Update [T40W07RU/U]
It's my eldest daughter's b'day tomorrow... which may make for an "interesting" weekend.
no, there's no plans of any kind - "just another weekend," and I'm fine with that...
but one doesn't know a child's expectations - especially when others have a habit of "hyping up" these kind of things
which, unfortunately, can lead to disappointment - even though the girls should be aware from past statements/occurances how things are
*sighs*
guess we'll see, guess we'll see
Fathrehood has always been an intriguing concept, even before I actually had spawnlings
but being a fathre, I raise my daughters in a way that, intuitively?, feels RIGHT - no matter what others may think
( and, as I discovered even today, people will outright tell me I'm living my life wrong for me and/or my girls - I say they're f'n @$$hats )
ANYways...
no, being a fathre isn't easy, and no, I'm probably not the "perfect fathre" by any means
but I do what's right for them, and for me for them (bills paid, roof overhead, food on the table - anything else is luxury!)
I don't understand the child mindset, but that's probably because I remember so little before I was 18 and virtually nothing before I was 15
( car accident-incurred memory loss + attack/robbery-incurred memory loss = lucky I remember ANYthing )
so it's become easier now that the spawnlings are older and I can witness their burgeoning creativity and developing personalities
when they were younger I was asked/told to "play with them [like I was a child]," but I admit I don't/didn't get it
now I can actually "play" with them because their actions and mindset make more sense to me now
one of the hardest things, of course, is that I only have them 26 weekends a year, roughly 52 days (though not quite, as they're not entire weekends)
that's only 14% of a year *Oi!* - and the rare holiday that doesn't already fall on "my" weekend
so, there's a lot that I miss - and the girls often assume that because they told their mothre/grandmothre/uncle/etc. that I already know
*shrugs* oh well. I can only work with what I know, so hopefully it's enough
essentially I do the best I can, since most of what I do is for my girls
( my paycheck can attest to that as well, though I'd assist for my daughters even if it wasn't "authorized" anyways - they ARE my world! )
but that's what fathrehood is about, isn't it?
living FOR your children and enjoying your life with and because of them?
it doesn't mean this weekend will be any less... interesting... but someday I hope they'll understand
