since last week, dreams've been incoherent mini-dreams w/out anything the least bit understandable - like I'm quantum sliding through others' dreams

I travel for a funeral & friends, including doing several post-funeral bar toasts... & end up leaving w/ a spendy leather jacket a friend unseen in 25yrs literally gave off his back - love-hate, certainly, surprised unquestionably, & his wife & daughter both affirm it's seriously mine now *sighs* - the hell have *I* done to deserve ?!

his wife I consider like a sister, I was always protective of her, my little D ... but she's got herself a great guy who's been protecting her at least for 14 of the years now since I moved - old friendships never die, I suppose, and I'm demn glad they've got each other now ( and his daughter is a tough little sweetheart, too )

@bookcouple I realized I was off by 5yrs with the friend who gave me the jacket - he'd have still been in HS then, which he wasn't
These longest days... & the days yet to come - memories that enrich & fill, pain & empower in equal measure, a center gone but we continue to spin, spreading & spiralling & thinking of you in much that we do ( Jim )
for the upcoming O'H! trip in april, flight, to/from-home/airport shuttle, & hotel have been booked :)
very excited - will be staying on the southern edge of Waikiki near (the) Diamondhead... only a few months of cold to go first *shivers*

elsewise, well... tough news Tues - which has made for a tough week and likely a tough weekend to come...
a very good friend...

So sorry to hear about your friend
wolfox:
much thanks, @bookcouple - he was a great friend for many years

got the hotel set-up post-work for the April O'ahu/Hawai'i trip ... followed a few minutes later, unfortunately, with getting news of my good friend passing who'd been fighting terminal-stage cancer for about 2yrs now *sighs*

gotta take the good with the bad - they're keeping the news as down-low as possible until all of the family & friends are informed - but since...

334 days into the year and 363 poems written - I failed months ago in my year goal of writing a poem a day, but still...
having written more than a poem per day of the year thus far ain't a bad consolation, is it ?
even if the poetic quality, I'm sure, is less than desirable *smirks*

flight is booked & shuttle set-up to get to/from home-to-airport/airport-to-home ... this will be THE longest flight(s) I've ever taken, not to mention this will be the first flight with a layover/flight switch ( they only had non-stop for the return trip available ) *excited*

bookcouple:
Good luck
wolfox:
@bookcouple thanks - I've only been travelling 5 or 6 yrs now, so this is the biggest vaca I'll have taken ( so far, that is )

dates are approved & set for next year's springtide foray to warmer climes & island culture as to yet unexplored & enjoyed by me - now comes the harder part of setting flights, hotel, & pre-planning any excursions where plotting aforehand is suggested... how long 'til mid-April ?

I'm proud of my daughters, they had very good trimester grades - my youngest with only one B, my eldest with a couple Cs & B...
this change obviously did them well... hopefully it continues & I don't have to worry as we've had to previously
I know things are only going to become tougher for them - not just as school continues, but...

kinda nice having no "holiday" expectations - as long as no one's dumb enough to knock on my door, I can be naked for the next 37hrs without expectation ... or complaints, for that matter ;)
