Fun Time Happy Life Guy : The 40 Week 3 Round Up/Update [T40W03RU/U -1]
the one question I'm asked often is... what do I do for fun?
well... honestly, that's a hard one to answer - the short version is "usually, not much"
and while most of my friends (and some co-workers) will decry that it's not true, I tend to think/say that I'm a relatively boring individual
there's the rare occasion where I'll pay attention to my brain and write random poetry or create digital art, but... it's rare
years past I was still as boring as I am now, but actually DID a lot more - though even then, it was random instances at best
travel? seldom... I can literally count on my fingers and still have some left how many times I've been out of MinnKota
I used to volunteer a lot, in different ways at different times/stages/places in/of my life
I used to check out live bands as often as possible... when I lived close to live music venues (or volunteered at concerts and festivals)
I can't say I was much of a partier, as - if I didn't already live in the party locale - I was seldom invited *shrugs*
most "parties" that I've been to, it was because I was already along/out with the person who was invited ( "yay, third wheel?" )
the bar scene was seldom, few, and far between... just was never affordable and going solo the usual, so *meh*
I used to go to the movie theatre (solo, again) a lot... when I lived close(r) to theatres - now the only place close by plays second-run
...mind you, I love the Cinema Grill, it's just that in a month or two they'll be out on DVD anyways and an hour walk is only worth it in good weather!
hard to just "hang out" when most people I know live quite a ways away
...though I admit, I like my personal time/space sometimes and - as years have passed - lives and life has shifted, as expected
most people I know have their families, which I completely understand, while others have... unusual expectations, to which I've kept off their radar
nonetheless!, I have friends I see once every few years or so and it's great to see them when I do
most friends I've seen only once or twice in the past 15yrs - but thankfully there's the internet for continued conversation/connection
( and, yes, a great many have died... but that's life for ya and last year and this one thus far have been "lucky" ones *knockonwood* )
the question I'm usually asked thereafter is... what DO I do then?
"work, watch DVDs, listen to music, and enjoy the time I have with my spawnlings... when I have them"
and, yeh, that's about it ...there's little wonder why my apartment tends to be cleaner than most "bachelor"s
it's a quiet life, yes, which can be VERY annoying/aggravating at times *sighs*
while I need the weekends and breaks from work and etc, they tend to last far too long for me mentally, if not physically
( and, no, phone calls are not my "thing," I prefer physical contact/connection, next up to bat online, then down the list somewhere is phone )
who knows, maybe in the next decade or so my life will shift again and I'll find myself doing more things again...
well, at least up to par with the random, every-so-often instances as I did in the past
BUT, I make no gaurantees - I just live my life and enjoy every day as best I can!
and, yes, I should probably shave sometime soon
