Vacationless Reminder... And Then Some : The 39 Week 43.4 Round Up/Update [T39W43.4RU/U]
it was literally just under 100 when I came home from work today, so I've got the A/C going... shocker, I know!
but I'm not the "young man" I used t'be - not by a longshot, even if people tend to think I'm in my 20s...
*whew*
despite my past few postings regarding the fact I won't be taking a vacation this year, I've suddenly had people asking if I'm going to go visit them this year...
to those in nearby states and otherwise, no vaca is no vaca - I won't be going ANYwhere this year, I'm afraid...
I won't be celebrating any summer "holidays" (though I never have in the past, so why is that a surprise), nor my b'day (again, why a surprise, I haven't in the past, either), etc. etc.
if people want to come see me - cool... though best I can offer is a couch for a day, maybe two, IF I don't have my girls those days
and, no, if you're not stayin' in my 'burb or nearby 'burb, I won't be able t'get where ya are - I'm "lucky" that I live in a 'burb of the Cities, not downtown/uptown, which means bus service = 0, nada, zip
no worries... I've already had more visitors this year than I have since I moved to the Cities 12yrs ago and I have no expectations
again - you can ask all you like on if I'm going to visit you this year, but I'm afraid the answer is going to be "no"
no matter if you offer a place to stay or not, still can't do it
can't afford the Graedog or car rental - and car rental is cheaper than Graedog, btw, especially since I'd have t'take a taxi t'get TO the Graedog station and then back again when I get back
nonetheless...
BUT... hey, I had a vaca last year and my first vaca in over a decade the year prior - two years of vaca in a ROW!
I feel great that I was able to do so... and, who knows, maybe in a few years or so I'll be able to save up somehow and take a vaca again...

on a side note, this last weekend my daughters were THE worst I'd ever seen them on Satyr's Day - not the worst weekend in all, though...
my eldest daughter has reached the "attitude" phase of her life, thinking she can get away with anything and a lie every hour *sighs*
doesn't help, either, that my youngest was nowhere near perfect, either - between the two of them EVERY rule I have was broken
AND even a few objects - including their favourite chairs...
I warned 'em that if they treated them that way they'd break, and Lo! they did... they were shocked and saddened, but that's how it goes
...and then more shocked/saddened that I couldn't "fix" them and that I have no plans to replace them

eldest daughter is upset because I'm sticking to the rule she has to be good BEFORE she can do things, that I don't count promises to after
she's being sad saying "I'll NEVER be able to do ANYthing if I have to be good first" and didn't like my response: "that's the point, kiddo"
