Walking Dude, Vacationless, & The Rambo Collection : The 39 Week 40 Round Up/Update [T39W40RU/U]
via a good friend of mine, I now have a VERY pfunky pedometer...
it tracks steps, miles walked, flights walked up... even food intake and sleep - pretty pfunky, indeed!
since 5:30a this AM, when I clipped the li'l big guy on, I have walked 4.19 miles, up 12 flights, and 9410 steps
( all within a 2 block radius, no less... 'course, I WAS doing laundry, so that explains the flights )
I've also consumed 4003 calories throughout the day (thus far), but I'm assuming that's relatively normal?
I'm not sure how it does the estimates, but nonetheless - pretty demn cool!
I can imagine how many miles I'll rack up when the weather gets warmer, since I walk everywhere I go... maybe I'll have t'keep everybody informed?
by this time last year I'd already been back a week from a vacation to Vegas...
by this time two years ago I'd been back nearly a month from a vacation to Vegas...
this year the likelihood of a vacation is... unlikely.
while, yes, I have time that will have to be "burned" by September, affordability is nigh out of the question.
I had considered in the latter part of last year making this year's vaca a trip to Washington, D.C.
( Vegas and the Nat'l Mall of Washington, D.C. are the very, very few places one can actually travel to and spend days in on foot and seeing the sights without having to rent a vehicle or travel for hours between sites )
(( it's kind of saddening how so many "tourist locales" have become places where you spend more time travelling between sites than at the sights
))
...nevertheless, there will be no trip this year - IF I'm lucky I may get out of the Cities at one point or another, but I gaurantee nothing
honestly I think I'll be lucky to get out of my 'burb(s) more than a few times before September!
no "staycations" at a local hotel, either - hotels in the Cities are notoriously spendy enough as it is... a car rental and in-state-roadtrip for a few days would actually be cheaper than a weekend hotel "staycation!"
BUT, we'll see, we'll see... having to use vaca time just as a "day off at home" may be the best I can do this year
( besides, last year and the year before were the first "real" vacations I'd taken in roughly a decade - at least, sole vacations that didn't involve volunteering or helping someone out )
(( so, see... I was actually SPOILED last year and the year before, if you think about it - me and actual vacations are a rare thing, indeed! ))
