Musiqa Influentia!
Music is (and always has been) an influence in my life... while I admit, I grew up "a decade behind," so to speak, listening to the '70s in the '80s and not really getting into the '80s until the '90s...
I've always been an eclectic in the music I like, running the gamut from metal to pop to blues to country to rock to jazz to (etc., etc.).
and, yes, there is a connection between my love of music and love of film... the "right" songs in a film give a charge to a film, making an ok/good film into a great/classic one - though vice versa can also be true.
finally getting to see one of my two "musical heroes," Alice Cooper, was an amazing treat! he was amazingly active with costume changes throughout his show... he blows some of these new/younger bands out of the water - still!
my other "musical hero," David Bowie, I'll unfortunately never get to see live - unless he happens to decide to go back on stage for some reason.
( just an FYI, I still thank my good friend Vas for being a major factor in getting to see Apocalyptica live in September of y10 - demn was that a great show! I'd definately do it again!! )
nonetheless, in my life I've met (and befriended some) various musicians, though no/few "big" names - mostly in the country and metal genres from my volunteering at metal shows and WEfest years back.
( scarier yet, I was in a short-lived band one summer... playing offbeat/offkilter versions of mostly '70s tunes, including Bowie.
doesn't help we had virtually zero talent and our first "gig"/show was on a rooftop where shortly into it we, and our instruments, came crashing down - injuring the entire lot of us in the process.
at least I can laugh about it now, many years later, neh? )
in my POV, those "elitists" and others who keep themselves to a single genre with a hatred/dislike of other kinds of music are completely missing out!
...as far as I'm concerned, as long as there's music, there'll be life.
