Fallcon Plans Cancelled / "North Country" Trip In 3 Weeks...
while I was hoping for one more volunteer outing this year, being amongst the artists and rogues, unfortunately I will not be assisting my friend at Fallcon *sighs*...
no, I'm not being denied assisting her in my "official slave boy" capacity, it's that Fallcon is a mere two weeks away, they still hadn't contacted her (she'd been there at least two years now, SpringCon & Fallcon), and her name isn't on their list of attending artists.
particularly sad in that I had only seen her and her husband once this year - since she had to quit modelling and promo work, she's been focusing on her art and comics (online and otherwise), but I miss having my "monthly visitor" when she used to come to the Cities.
...otherwise the weekend after Fallcon I'll still be travelling to the north country ( "WarRoseau" as I like to call it ) for a friend I haven't seen in 15+ years' wedding. It'll be a small affair, following by a party in which they're trying to gather as many of the "old crowd" (myself, included) to attend. It'll be intriguing to see old friends, as it's been so long and most of them are married, have kids (in their teens or older), etc. etc.
humerously, the word has gotten out that I'll be returning and people have been sharing their memories and stories of me *laughs*. It's kinda scary that for as crazy as people tend to think I am now, that I'm unbelievably tame and boring compared to how I was back then - even I can admit that!
who knows - maybe I'll have a resurgence of my "old self" while I'm up there and come back in style to freak out my co-workers/ex-wife? *smirks*
So... to sum up. Yes, I'm still "slave boy" thom, but no, I won't be attending Fallcon/assiting my friend. and, yes, I'll still be on a "4-day weekend/trip" in 3 weeks heading as far north as you can physically go without leaving the state of MN to get there.
