In honour of this Memorial Day, here :
"I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
( original Pledge Of Allegiance, 1892 )
"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
( 1923 [and the one that matters] )

this weekend with the girls has been quite interesting, indeed. they've been mostly good with a few instances of having to be punished and/or denied things.
they know the rules well, then "act out" and are surprised when they get denied and/or punished for it *sigh*. Kids nowadays, neh?
But they got several trips out to the park where they played with various neighbor kids each time - along with humerous interactions with kids who didn't speak english...
Jacqueline's responses to it were most intriguing and humerous, at one point even telling a boy, "why don't you speak english, this is 'Merica!?" I love my daughters!
Intriguingly their "morbid side" came out in spades this morning...
they let me sleep in, for some reason, and I woke up to them having a strangely serious conversation about death.
when they could tell I was awake, I was asked questions about their Auntie Jacqueline (for whom my eldest is named), as well as other death questions.
I did my best to give answers without delving into spirituality or religious bullshiite, but did have to gauge a few "ghost" questions *smirks*.
I love my girls, they're the most interesting characters I think I've known in my life! *grins happily*
[did I mention I caught Clio singing "Iron Man" yesterday? she even knew some of the words! She said she'd hear it on TV at her Mama's *laughs* - I LOVE it!]
