If you read the article I read about bankruptcy then you would see how it is so desirable. It basicly said that though it's on your record for 7 years, if it looks better to claim it and tough it out for a year, then it's not looked down apon too badly. It's not that bad these days. Having little shit, they said, that has added up over the years is worse. This was coming from bankers, credit beuroe people, collection agencies and attornies. I figure they all know better than me, and all of the stories sounded like it was a positive thing for someone my age in my circumstance. Well sorry for the long comment. And that's too bad that the show sucked.

I have paid 140 and 170 a night at the lucia. But with all the room taxes and parking, it comes out to ~170-200 a night. It is not exactly cheap, but it's right on broadway downtown. THE nicest beds we've slept in ever. E V E R and I have slept in lots of hotels. Definitely a romantic place. Their website will let you know what rates are available on the night you want to stay.

It's walking distance to most all of the great downtown stuff: Jake's, shopping, movies, Dante's, Kell's, Spartacus, etc...

I also recommend "3 doors down" for Italian and Le Bouchon for french food.

The Bijou cafe, down on third, I think, is a great place for breakfast the next morning. We usually go midweek, but we've been on the weekends. It get's crowded but is worth the wait.

None of these things/places are overly stuffy, if at all. Make it a night to remember.

The wife and I don't get to go out much, SHE WON'T GET A BABYSITTER OTHER THAN MY MOTHER (*sigh), let alone up there. So, when we go, we spare no expense.
