It's funny. A guy I know recently stated that he thought I could be rather ..."important", I guess?... on YouTube, or Twitter.
I didn't bother querying him. While it would be a novel idea, doing some sort of widely followed video blog, a la the Digg boys, or Felicia Day's newest foray, I'm just Shawn. I have nothing to contribute to the world. I'm not "up" on the latest tech shit. I don't have opinions that the world needs to be aware of.
So, I guess the question is, world, do people get quote-unquote famous on YouTube, simply by saying shit that doesn't really matter? I mean, clearly, Twitter is people being semi-famous by saying shit that doesn't really matter. But, I don't understand how this dude thinks I can gather a following in such fashions.
Granted, I guess the same did go for the aforementioned Digg fellas. And any given blogger who is suddenly writing for the New York Times. I dunno. Maybe I just lack ambition. Or, fail to see something everyone else does in myself. Maybe I am YouTube material!
