Now that the storm seems to have passed. Back to funnier things.

Movie Reviews:

- Butterfly Effect: This is a weird movie. But it makes me wish I had kept notebooks when I was a kid. Anyway there is nothing overly special about this movie. The movie focuses around disturbing childhood memories. Do prepare say "damn that sucks" alot. But I am happy about one...

Blanket Statement:

It seems their are alot of angry people about commits I made in the "Population Control" thread. I am not apologizing for the statements just the because everyone is overracting. Their was not intent to insult or offend, their was merely intent to show what it would take to make population control work.

The idea that I am a bad person just because...

I read your comment in my journal and read it again. I hope you don't think I was attacking your character because I really wasn't... I just don't agree that it can be as simple as you paint it to be. It's an interesting subject and I've often thought that nature would have a way of taking care of our population control issues on it's own. HIV is something I've long thought was in some way a blessing.

Yes I said blessing. We all must die of something. This disease is more preventable than cancer or others that take millions of innocent children each year. Each death affects someone... a family member... a friend... and each situation is uniquely tragic. BUT... we all must die someday. Maybe nature is telling us something by producing this incurable disease?

I stand by my opinion that we cannot attempt to control the breeding rights of humans though... that is far too invasive and I hope that government never has that kind of power.

In reply to the above comment. The problem with AIDS is that its not random, it picks on the poorest people in the world, it picks on country's who don't educate their people about protecting themselves from it. You could argue your point in the case of China, but their ridiculous over-population doesnt appear to be viewed as a problem by their government.

I'm sure there'll be another sars around the corner though. That may be one of the dangers of curtailing population growth. Another problem is the ageing of the population, which causes welfare/tax problems, so cutting birth rates would only worsen that problem.

I don't believe the world's population ever get to 10 billion. There's quite a few studies which indicate that already the birth rate is decreasing. I read a book which convincingly argued that by 2150 the population could be around 1.5 billion again and 2050 would be the peak.

Josh, I think the reason people may have got angry with you in the thread is as Clara pointed out, your opinions tend to conflict and seem a bit half baked. Maybe you should spend a bit longer formulating them before throwing them out, although putting them up for discussion is also a good way to test drive them i guess.

Well it is 4th of July, America's Independence day. I before I do the politicial thing I want to wish everyone a happy 4th.

With the state of the world the way it is now, America is the most hated country on the planet. And for good reason, for America seems to think it has the right to police the world. To force everyone on...

Some of your latest comments seem to be incredibly ignorant and intolerant. Attention seeking maybe???

The issue of basic human rights is one that I feel strongly about myself.. we need to be smart about what we do on this planet. Permits for breeding is not the answer though... and as a mother of two children I feel as if I'm doing our planet a SERVICE by raising them to be educated, compassionate, open minded, tolerant, and kind. The thought that my family is a nuisance and a burden has never crossed my mind.

I'm sorry that you have all of that anger inside you about our Country... it's like a poison and it only hurts you in the end...

I'm not a great patriot but I know that a blanket statement like yours above will only alienate you and offend those who have given dearly to support our freedom.

edited because I read your further comments...

I don't really think that makes up for anything you said. Honestly, I think you're just trying to cover your ass because a bunch of people jumped all over you and told you how horrible your comments were.
Even though you were just trying to make an example of how population control would work, you went about it in a rather sadistic and angry way. It takes a cruel mind to think up the kinds of things that you think would make for good population control.
I still think that you probably have some issues with women.
I hope that instead of getting defensive and angry you can try and see why people are hurt and offended by what you said. And maybe take a look at yourself and try to find out why you (or your subconscious) would think it's ok to do those things to women.

Okay time for the weekly movie reviews.

- Cold Mountain: Like so many other movies I have reviewed, it is chessy and predictable. The whole movie is about love at first sight. Guy meets women and falls in love. He then leaves to go to war. She asks him to come home to her and he goes A.W.O.L and makes his way back to her....

I had it out with two of my friends today. They didn't like what I had to say, but they seemed to except it. They acted like they didn't do anything wrong and of course shifted the blame to everyone else at the party. Fucking Pussies!!

Why is everyone so affraid to be wrong? I am serious, why do you feel everyone is so affraid...

Yeah, you probably should kick yourself. Best show I've ever seen... PLUS APC is done. The rumor I heard was Maynards back with Tool and may not be going back with APC... err something. Also heard the same rumor, Maynard went back to the studio with them in June; and the other members had already written music they just needed Maynards lyrics and final touches... or so I've heard.

It gets me really giddy though smile

I helped a friend move some couches and stuff Saturday. She has a little boy who is 8. We played Baseball and Chinese Checkers. I came home looking forward to going to a party that night, proad of myself for my good deed and altogether life just felt so great when I left her house.

Okay it is time to vent. I went to the...

I think you are cool for having your own style and believing in what you do. And you also sound smart enough not to let those bastards get to you so badly that you would stoop to their level of thought and action. Good job, for that. smile
Thank you for the pictures of the turtles. smile

A mixed review of my Little Josh letter, but whatever. I got the impression that some might have found it too personal. I personally don't feel it is, actually I don't see much anything as too personal as I am concerned. I am a open book, one that is a very interesting read if I do say so myself. wink

Anyway I had an interesting day...

I had a similar situation. My little sister was dating this total dick named Spencer. He was such a cock. All she would do all day is bitch about him. Ugh, it was so annoying. I was so glad when she finally dumped his ass.

Out here in Albuquerque, NM, the drug busts are pretty common. I see shirtless drug dealers getting their shit ruined by cops all the time. We have A LOT of drugs around here. We also have the highest drunk driving rate in the country! I hate driving around a 2am, because one out of five drivers are said to be wasted. Whew. I usually hate seeing cops around, because I like to speed, but at night I welcome a policeman.

See ya.

I really love alfred hitchcock's movies! I havent seen secret window yet, but being a jonny fan, I have t see it no matter HOW predictable it is. Im not usually too good at predicting movie outcomes anyhow, no matter how obvious it may be.

Dear Little Josh,

Don't worry so much about your weight when you are young. Enjoy your youth. Girlfriends are highly overrated and it is better to be alone then to change yourself for some woman.

Always remember what is important to you. You are one of the best soccer players in TN don't let the mayor keeping you off the traveling team force you to...

We all have regreats. Every human on earth has something they wish they could take back or redo. Nobody looks back on their life and thinks '100% - perfect.'

I've been reading all the letters to the younger versions of themselves popping all over this site. People get very personal in these things. It really ripps open a wound, doesn't it?

Maybe we shouldn't be looking back, though. Perhaps we should look foward, imagine we're 40 years old, and think, well, what would the 40 year old me want me to do? Write it down.

The 40 year old me would want me to stay in school, work and study hard, start a good career, make some money, and be happy. He would tell me to cut the bullshit lamenting and get over it. He'd say "so you spent ten years in a pit of despair, get on with it! Get a life." He'd have no time for my boohoo-ing. He'd be pissed that I wasted so much of his adult life being sad, and not enough building a happy and dynamic life.

So maybe we should all honor the wishes of who we will eventually become twenty years from now. It's definitely time to quit living in the past and start existing in the NOW.

Anyone know Lydia's phone number? Haha, just kidding.

My dad had his birthday, but it was likely the worst birthday ever. His dog (my dog as a kid) died on his birthday. The dog died of heart worms. He was 14+ human years old. RIP Chips!!

Glad to see alot of people agreeing with me about the Reagan thing.

Now to more pressing matters. Like:

Simple Life 2 season premiere: I love this show because you have two really hot, really stupid girls failing miserably at everything they attempt to do. I laugh my ass off for 30 minutes straight. biggrin
