I have a craving for the "salsa salad" they used to make at the dining halls in College.

Perhaps this means Chipotle is in order.

I always found mathematics easy with one exception:

I've found that if one's foundations in mathematics are shaky, everything else suddenly becomes far more complicated. If a math chapter seems difficult, for me, it is a sure sign to go back and review the chapter it builds off of. Invariably I find that solves all woes with math.

I am completely immersed in Star Wars. It has made me happier than ever. Once I finish The Corrections, I am going to tackle pulp fiction Star Wars novels like nobody's business.

That's what my summer is going to be: total geekdom. And yoga. Total geekdom, yoga, and knitting.

Oh yeah, and the work thing. (I have to stop playing air guitar at friends'...

There are things I need to keep telling myself. I need to keep telling myself that I am gorgeous and a force to be reckoned with. That I am good at things that I do, and that I never (in a rush to sound like a high school basketball coach) give less than 110% to anything that I do.

Whether I am knitting, playing on...

What's your book about? I've love to read it when it's finished. I'm working on a book as well, but it's SLOW going...

And I've met some great midwesterns. I've also met some really obnoxious ones. Just like anywhere else, really. It's just a stereotype that they're all conservative and stupid (I mean Iowa and Wisconsin went for Gore in 2000) just like any other dumb stereotype. I'm actually going to Iowa City for the 4th of July this year to visit a friend. Vive le Mid-ouest!

May the Force grant me with enough insight so as not to run away screaming from people as they approach me. May I find the understanding so as not to rip my own head off after saying ridiculous things. May the grass be green and weed free. May my hair stop frizzing and growing three times its size so that my head looks like a...

The offline life, she continues.

What with weddings in Michigan; friends in from Seattle and Des Moines; sisters visiting; mothers visiting; trips up to the Alma Mater; storms to end all storms; FCC Licensing; gorgeous weather calling on sunburns; finding hot pink, kitten heel, patent leather shoes in a size women's US 12 (oooooh boy!); and everything everything everything .... and more yet to come....

It looks like I'll be here a while longer, afterall. I decided to stick around on the site at least for another 3 months.

So, I'll be around, though if you want to e-mail me the invite is still on the table.

I don't know first hand what depression can be like, I don't believe. I've had people tell me that they thought I suffered from it, but it has never been diagnosed and I don't believe I do. I know enough that there's little I can say that helps. Even so, I'm here and hope for your best.

I'm probably not alone when I say you've got my curiousity peaked. Let's see these boots! lol

Hope things are going better.

I should be in Burkina Faso in early July, so we'll have to get together.

I am sorry that I have not been around. What with my mother visiting; my sister visiting; the nice nights; and the fights at three a.m. from next door, I have not had the time or the want to be at my computer.

Especially with my sister visiting.
We saw Mean Girls; it was beyond amazing.
I am reading Eats, Shoots and Leaves;...

I loved A Mighty Wind. I saw it with my father, who's an old folkie, and that was great, and I love the comedy those guys do. But what made me love it most was the fact that I knew it was Spinal Tap singing folk songs. That struck me as enormously funny over the course of the entire film.

I hope you're going to return soon to your regularly scheduled updates! biggrin

There was already a journal entry tonight, but it said nothing, it meant nothing, this one ... this one means something.

I will preface this by saying that I feel ridiculous by saying that I am taking any life direction and advice from a reality TV show, but that is just the case. It took a contestant on a reality TV show to make me...

Some time is to be spent just laying in the sunshine as well.

Don't feel amiss for that.

When you find yourself tiring, as you will, step aside for a moment and examine the ways you have been whipping yourself foward in your quest against mediocrity. There will be places you see pointless strictness. Eliminating those preserves your will for where it matters,

Even so, you can only run so long by force of will alone.

Lasting change comes from developing the habits that supports the change, and makes it easy to maintain.
legionnaire:
I agree with that philosophy. I try to avoid mediocrity in all its forms - anything that's worth doing is worth doing well, or not at all. I think you'll take a lot more enjoyment out of the things that you do if you feel like you're improving at them.

This week in Burkina Faso, we are faced with one angry undone:

I want to take on the world. I want to march on Washington. I want to prove to every country, singlehandedly, that there are some Americans out there worth loving.

I am loveable. I have the love handles to prove it.

I could go on and on about this, but:
1) I have...

-- First Off: Thank you for the Birthday Wishes --

The city is so pregnant with moisture, I can feel it on my skin in the house, I can taste it in the air I breathe. Nothing is satisfying. A nice cold Coca Cola, one of my 3 cigarettes, a large glass of water .. none of it is appealing or even welcomed. The cookies...

GAH. I knew I should have checked in here Thursday.

Happy birthday...belated of course.

Nothing like the arrival of parents to alter one's typical day drastically. I'm so glad someone made it a point to tell mom I went to a metal concert last week. She tried to give me the third degree over that.

Anyway, remind me not to go to any more weddings for a while? In the meantime I've got two concerts to go to this week lol.

Recipe for disaster :::

1) Wear Fluffy Puff Marshmallows teeshirt while kicking The Cheat all over the living room, giggling like a maniac and eating a white chocolate orange.

2) Set The Cheat static sticker free due to open windows on a very dirty car.

3) Wear same short skirt to work with super pale legs, and go about announcing to everyone that today is...

I've been a fan for a long time, though I have to say it's been a little while since I saw a funny strongbad e-mail. I think the caffeine one was the last "peeing my pants it's so good" one.

And 27 is a perfect cube! Enjoy it, it'll be the last you'll have for a while. smile

- Have you ever forgotten your height?
- When you're standing next to an old friend, do you often feel compelled to grab their hand and say "Don't go, please stay?"
- Do you often kick yourself for saying things you should have taken back?
- Do you blush when someone calls your name?

The night is cold, and the stars are so bright, shining...
