@sorcerer333, and if you were at liberty I assume you'd share with her other friends her who don't have that contact.  I'm glad you can keep in touch - she's a sweetie and a hoot, and I hope the events weren't too terribly nasty.
sorcerer333:
@fullfeeling Yeah, it’s not for me to say or get into here. Regardless, she’ll be missed.

Care to join her? In her latest set Don't wet the mogwai (shot by SG's brilliant model/photographer @gloom ), @helainked celebrates the 40th anniversary of the movie "Gremlins", one of her favourite movies. I'd love to be there to watch it with her.

Damn. This mortality thing sucks. I never asked for it and I don't like it.

@weedfarmer recently tagged me to participate in a “five things you love and five things you hate” thing, something I feel like I did not too long ago, but I’m down to do it again.

5 things I love in no particular order (excluding things like air, gravity, etc.):

1) Peace. I’ve been enjoying my quiet time quite a bit these days, and I’d love...

Sorry Mario, but your girlfriend isn’t here! 😈” This is what you hear as you enter the chamber. You were expecting sweet Peach, but what you got instead is the vixen known as @pesdusa. Mamma mia! 😍 If I were Mario and Luigi, I’d be just fine with this arrangement, wouldn’t you?

So, a while back, I had this sudden urge to write song lyrics, not even knowing what the tune was going to sound like. About a week later, I wrote lyrics for a second song. When I first produced them, they felt like a fire that burst inside me that I had to get out of me. I’ve had a few creative bursts like this...

This is where genetically inherited instinctual responses come into play. For billions of years, our ancestors' lives involved trying to acquire food without becoming food. Failing at either of these left no second chance for a modified approach based on lessons learned. In the modern world, we have a second category of activities in which the risks are disappointment, embarrassment and inconvenience, but these are reversible, unlike death which is annoyingly permanent. We routinely conflate these very different possible outcomes but we can learn to be conscious of the distinction and then see that if millions of people are united in their loathing for our new song, we will still be here to continue with our life. Another area with an important lost distinction is predicting an outcome. In the physical world, we generally know on the basis of precedent what will happen when chemicals are mixed together, etc. When human emotions and subjectivity are involved, any attempt to predict an outcome can only be an educated guess. Feeling like a dummy for predicting the behavior of others incorrectly makes no sense by virtue of it being impossible to do consistently in the first place. These ideas from my doctor changed my life very much for the better so I hope you find this of some help. Just forge ahead. Anyone who merits a second of thought is going to be supportive of your efforts and those who are insulting are uncivilized and need to be ignored anyway. Good luck old son, and have fun. I insist. 😉
pesdusa:
"JUST DO IT!" @jozsef made a very interesting point. I would try to focus on that 'drive' feel, and just think of the enjoyment which it could bring you once you actually finish the 'task'.

I’m taking a page from @fredhincanada ’s book and checking in on you fine SG folk. Those of you who know me on here know that I’ve had my share of issues. These days, I’m doing great (❤️, if you’re going by the posted legend)… Well, aside from sleeping issues, but I just purchased a sleeping mask that has already helped me some. I created

I was recently watching “Men in Black 3”, and the scene in which J thanks K at the end brought a tear to my eye. I’m often moved by scenes like that - those special moments that give you glimpses into a character’s true nature or moments of heartfelt appreciation between people. Afterwards, I reflected on just what it was about that fictional scene that...

@alexislust Beautifully put. I sometimes wonder if we’re somewhat disconnected from reality, since such works of fiction can move us in such a way. In these times, I remind myself that ordinary life is full of ordinary experiences, that the world of the mundane is very much that, so these experiences will, of course, be few and far between as a result. Of course, there are exceptions, both miraculous and traumatizing. I consider myself lucky to experience a broad spectrum - it allows me to appreciate the beautiful moments.
alexislust:
We react this way to movies, because in real life it is not always possible for us to lose control of our emotions. This is not welcome in any culture. You can only cry at the birth of a child, at weddings and funerals. Otherwise, I observe a rigid unconscious taboo on emotions.

Insomnia is a bitch. In response, here’s Bart Simpson worrying about his clown bed: Can’t sleep, clown’ll eat me.

So, last night, I got this sudden hit of inspiration out of nowhere… Well, not completely out of nowhere. Earlier in the week, I had a couple of requests to sing for a couple of people, so I did. I found myself enjoying it, so much so that last night I had this crazy notion to write a song! Sadly, my landlord was asleep in...
