Thanks to all for your concern. I'll elaborate on the situation a bit.
Dad and mom winter at the gulf coast every season. They were driving about when dad's vision blurred out and went to nothing. Mom is a nurse so she recognized it as a possible stroke and took him straight away to a drop in emergency clinic. They did some MRI scans and...

Sending what good juju I can muster for you and the family, man. Hope Old Snake will be OK.
Interview went well. Think I've pretty much got it in the bag. Pay isn't spectacular, but it's pay. Benefits, on the other hand, seem pretty great. We'll see if I get an offer.
I will drink no green pissy beer today. Not on my my watch. Ok, maybe five.

Benefits are a good thing. Especially with friends.

Well, you started it.
Second interview tomorrow! Woot!
The head HR gentleman said they were impressed during the first round and wanted to see me again. I knew it went fairly well; I wasn't nervous, I wasn't awkard, and I wasn't stuttering and fluttery like I can get. I didn't even get the pre-interview shakes and bubbleguts like I used to. I think those are all good symptoms of...

Good luck!
So the job interview seemed to go fairly well. Basically all they make there is margarine, shortening, and such for large distribution. So it's a fairly small, but high volume facility. I would be a QA tech, but also involved with production, which is just fine with me. Also it's a 4 day, 10 hour shift situation which is pretty sweet. Plus no seasonal rush...

I had to sell my 70 monte carlo a few years ago and that sucked. Hopefully you will get the job. Good Luck

There ya go! Good luck with the interview.
It's crazy how fast life can make a change and send you in a new direction. It seems like just yesterday I was making a plan to move to Los Angeles. That would have been a mistake. I might have been happy because of who I was with, but ultimately it wouldn't be the place for me. Because Oregon is where I belong. I've moved...

I feel similar about the Pacific Northwest.

You're a braver man than I. Despite the winters here, I think all the rain the PNW gets would drive me insane.
Also, good to know you're a fellow Ween fan.

So I pretty much have the rent scraped together. They don't ever cash the check until the 12th of the month, usually, so this weeks unemployment check will get me over the mark. Everything else is up in the air though. I went to the social services department today and they aren't willing to give me any assistance because I'm single and I don't have...

I can understand your frustration.
You have been paying into the system when people who never even put anything in are able to get assistance when they haven't ever put anything in.
Sending you positive vibes!

sounds shitty- hope things come around.
I just found out that the savings I thought I could access are unaccessable. Which is really, really bad considering I'm unemployed and what I am drawing in assistance isn't enough to even pay rent let alone gas and electric. I just ran down to DHS real quick and applied for Temporary Assitance for Needy Families, but basically they said because I'm single and don't...

You're supposed to be the one AHEAD of me... not behind.

If issue can't come through for you, lemme know and I'll try to shake some dollahs free for ya.

Talk to some investment guys. They're usually willing to advise for free, and they would know more about what to do. With money, there's always a way. Just watch out for taxes; they can come back and bite you hard.

There are times when I'm alone that I think, This is it. This is actually the natural state. All I need are my thoughts and my small acts of creation and my ability to go or do whatever I want to go or do. I am myself, and that is the point. Pairing is a social construct. It is by no means necessary...

While I see where you're coming from with this post, I have to say I'm with MS on this one.

Whew. Glad to hear you're just passing along tidbits. I'd say more, but I'm horrible at expressing myself. And... once again... we seem to share experiences..
I once had the IRS claim I hadn't filed my taxes as well, and like you I also have mine done professionally. Plus I have them file it electronically. I just called my accountant and had him take care of it, hopefully you can do the same to take the burden off of you at this time.
