So I've been away for a while. Well not really away but crazy busy with work and it's just really been draining so I find that I come home every night and just fall into my bed like the a body dropped into a coffin. So when I feel like the undead most of the time I find it very hard to motivate myself to post. But anyways that's done for now well atleast tonight isn't to bad it's crazy hot in my house though. Then to top off the heat, and I will never understand why they do this, my dog wants to lay on me to generate more heat because I guess I'm not sweating enough.
But anyways to today's topic, and I gave this some bit of thought this morning in the shower. Keep in mind that none of the following is set in stone and I would be willing to change my opinion if I were to gather more information than I had before which would influence my final decision. Anyways, my thought was "what would I do if I were The President?"
Well the thought crosses the mind of many kids as they grow up and during that time they usually say things that would hold no large impact and are rather whimsical, they say things like they would make cupcakes breakfast food and homework the job of the parents. Now, I know I can be slightly childish in mind sometimes but I don't think we need cupcake breakfast and parents slaving over algebra they learned decades ago.
The first thing that I would work to change is to finally establish in the US the right to gay marriage. First off, I always laugh when the subject gets brought up by people who are against it, it is not going to ruin the sanctity of marriage because the divorce rate has already done that. Second in this country we have a established rule of the separation of church and state, now this point is a little iffy because to many outside eyes that doesn't actually happen. The large majority of politicians in this country are Christians which I would take issue with if it didn't get brought up in legal proceedings. Far to often do I hear that "God" intended for marriage to be between a man and a woman. Well the second you bring up God, I'm sorry but any argument you have is invalidated because of the separation of church and state. So that points done. Furthermore, if gay couples are getting married, they can't have their own kids which I believe would lead to an increase in the adoption rate in this country or at least I like to hope that it while.
Second thing that I would try to accomplish is the legalization of marijuana. Now I wouldn't put in place a system to keep it regulated in a manner similar to tobacco and alcohol while also applying the sin tax that both of those products carry. I would take the money that is generated from this tax and funnel it into the higher education system with the purpose of dropping tuition. This I hope will allow more people to get a better education in this country after they have left the public school systems. Now I also would make it illegal for large corporations to grow marijuana which would cause the creation of jobs for people lower down in the system and hopefully keep them more invested in their products while allowing them to make a good living. But, at the same time I would allow the large companies to grow hemp for industrial products such as paper, plastics, clothes and anything else it can be turned into. I hope that will increase the amount of farming in the country so those people can maybe have an easier life. It would also carry an age limit of 21, the same as alcohol.
Third, politicians make way to much money. Currently the salary of a member of the House of Representatives, or the senate is $174,000. That is a crap ton of money, you could have 5 or 6 families easily live off that amount of money. I would dock pay back to the heart aching amount of $95,000 a year. The reason for this is I want these offices to be a place of honor and duty and not a way to get rich. Now this money I would funnel into the public education system. That's really all I have to say on that topic.
Fourth, I would try to completely change the public education system in this country. More and more it is being proven that the traditional american education is failing our students. The first thing I would do is put a proven and innovative educator in charge of the changes but I would have some guiding points. I would want the destruction of teachers union contracts so that they may be redrafted to better fit the needs of modern students. I would want the time before a teacher was able to get tenure increased dramatically. Currently as it stands many teacher will teach for a few years at which point they will get tenure and can not easily be fired. I think that our teachers need to be held accountable for teaching our students and I think that the idea of easily acquired tenure to run opposite to this thought. Now I wouldn't be unfair, I would raise the pay for teachers dramatically as well. If I expect teachers to be amazing at their job I think it is fair to pay them well. But because they are making more money I would expect them to keep their performance of teaching very high.
Finally I would work to eliminate the two party system of this country. I find that far to often people do not pay attention to the issues at hand during elections and they instead become wrapped in a blanket of confusion caused by party loyalty and slanderous advertising that only serves to pull the blanket tighter. I want a system with many very parties where many may share ideas on politics but had distinguishing characteristics. But my biggest hope is that people will try to think instead of just choosing the red or the blue. Also I personally believe that if you took the Bloods and the Crips, made them white bureaucrats you would get the Republicans and Democrats.
But anyways please don't let the anger in your heart flame up after reading this, this are not fully expanded and developed ideas. They are simply the idle thoughts of a young man early in the morning while taking a shower. Also I'm gonna try something new out, I'm gonna try and post a picture of myself taken during the writing of the post and attach them...why not sounds fun or at the very least interesting.
