you know? i LOVE blogging. i can't pretend anymore! (i have no idea why this is showing up as a giant quote!! i didn't set it up like that. let's hope it goes away.)

♥ this weekend i went to an awesome sg san diego event! a bunch of us (_mike_, mstrcntrl, _jordan_, sikjoy, almightymabel, karmarobot, pikahyper and their respective non-sg dates) headed out to old town for some touristy mexican food, a quick serenade by some mexican dudes, gigantic $4 tequila shots, and a WHOLE lot of ghosts. (okay, there were not as many ghosts as there were ghost stories)

it was pretty fun! after supper (which was great in itself because we totally took over the patio of the restaurant!), we walked around old town and i gave a ghost tour. i was so worried about how i'd perform because i haven't really done anything like that but i'm very satisfied with how it went. here are a few photos. i know they're not great but i didn't want to post any of the group photos where people had really silly faces because they weren't mugging for the camera. i don't want anyone to be grumpy at me, haha.

these pics are huge so i recommend right-clicking to see them.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

look at all the crazy orbs in these photos! skeptics, i am not interested in how it's explainedwink

♥ yesterday, me and ol' uproot went to the dog beach with _jordan_, almightymabel, eponine and company. it was soooo fun! the water was warm and i picked up a whole bunch of shells.

♥ senor purrington is being such a nerd today. he keeps yelling at me for no reason, doing his 'i think i am being sneaky but i'm really not' creeping half-run all over the place, and when he's on my lap, he will reach up and pat my mouth and arms with his claws.

♥ this week, my ol' sir is going to the veterans for peace convention in st. louis. it will be a lonely few days by myself but i think i'm going to head out to the dog beach with the same people next weekend. plus, i will have work + these roguish pets to keep me busy.

♥ yesterday we went to the library. i got SO many books and it was awesome.

♥ just under two months till my birthday! yayyyyy!! (i really like my birthday. i'm not one of those people who pretends it's no big deal).

♥ i was reading over the file i type all my dreams into, and i had the craziest dream in may, 2006.

driving to california and it took so long lots of turns and i do not know who i am stuck in the car with.

.

i'm not trying to claim psychic dreaming, but it's pretty crazy that i dreamed something similar to my ACTUAL trip to california several months before i knew it would happen. not like 'lots of turns' is very descriptive, but perhaps you haven't driven through oregon in the dark. that's ALL it wastongue.

♥ i really like reviewing things, so i think i will make it a regular feature. thus, i present to you:

RIN'S REVIEWS!

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

yes, i know the title isn't to snappy, but it's better than "review-rin" (get it? it sounds kind of like "reviewin' " HAR)

♥on beauty, zadie smith. the 'it girl' of fiction let me down here. i felt this novel was so trite compared to the strength of her first novel, white teeth. it shared a lot of themes, which i didn't appreciate: an older, unattractive white man sexually involved by a strikingly beautiful black girl, young enough to be his daughter; a younger son whose good intentions lead him right into the grip of illegal activities; families connected through about 15 unlikely ways.

i just kept reading on and hoping the story would get better and be worth it. the dialogue and plot were so weak, at times i could hardly believe it was the same author. i mostly felt the novel was a colossal waste of my time.

♥ gogol bordello: super tarantella. my girl rosaline recommended this band to me and i'm so happy i spent the weekend pirating their albums. they have such a great sound. i like the departure from north american themes and instruments. i, for one, love the accordian. there aren't any stand out lyric, especially, but in 'supertheory of supereverything' it sounds like the words are 'and my grandpa he was panty' and i am pretty sure that i am mishearing it but it's funnier that way. in the same song, the phrase 'i don't read the bible/i don't trust disiples' fits in pretty well with my view of religion.

my favourite song on the album is 'wonderlust king'. i like the phrasing and the music behind it: the timing and instrumentation are so powerful and energetic. i suppose if i knew more about music i could use more descriptive wording but you guys can check out gogol bordello's myspace and listen to the songs i've mentioned and you'll probably get what i meant.

overall, i like the album's themes of melding cultures and globalisation of people but not necessarily of companies.

♥ tombstone cheese pizza: i love this shit. i also love IGA/sobeys pizzas (you albertans, at least, will know what i'm talking about) and they are few and far between. i'm a woman of simple tastes and sometimes all it takes to make me happy is a good cheap cheese pizza.

rosita:
ME!!! It was I, the infamous Rosita Chihuahua that you were stuck in a car with for those long hours on many turns! Ooh and I would allso like to mention that Sobeys is my FAV grocery store. When I moved to Saskatchewan I was delighted to see that we had them here as well. I can not say that I purchase their pizzas as I am trying to watch my girly figure as of late. However, their nectarines are pretty much the BEST thing I have ever had in my mouth and we all know that i have had some pretty terrific things in my mouth.... like pockey, wifecakes and vegan thanksgiving dinner (exept for the chicken that is). I lub you and your blogging!
