Black Leather Christmas....
I always start off the Xmas season with a nice purchase for me. As long as rent is covered and I can afford it. That way, come the big day I'm never let down around the christmas tree. I have no girlfriend or significant other nor have I had one for some time. So, I'm really my own Santa thease days. My family has no little kids in it now so Xmas is more about the food, company and catching up, than tearing at wrapping paper.
My Mom still does stockings and we exchange presents but it's been years upon years of socks and underwear. ( She still phones and asks what I'd like. And when I mention tools for work or little things like that. I get a, " That's a little too complicated " sigh over the phone.) So we've switched to gift certificates now, which suits me fine.
Now, I've been wanting a pair of black leather 501 style pants for some time. Especially after seeing Trent wear a pair at the last NIN concert I worked. At Sonar, the club where Sanctuary in hosted ( A Goth industrial night on Sunday's that I frequent.) It now has this mandatory Coat Check bullshit at it. Due to the fact that some American Asian gang banger up from Seattle shot up the place on a friday Hip Hop night eons ago.
But to check us is pretty stupid. I mean, If some black overcoated Goth has a gun it's probably for some future personal use, not defense. This isn't Denver. And I hate not wearing a leather at a club inside. So, I went over to Davie street and got me some leather pants.
One of the best things about Vancouver is the huge Gay scene. Means the gay retailers have started respectful amounts of mens clothing stores for Alternative lifestyles. Which all have great service, long opening hours and reasonable competing prices with lots of stock. I dressed up nice and ambled up to Priape a gay mens clothing store which is sort of like a mini Gap / XXX store for the community. All nice and clean with a a bit of cologne on because If I want good service in the stores on Davie street. I have to at least try to be cute, as far as gay men like.
Once in the store I went straight to the Alternative lifestyles section where upon I was immediately serviced by Patrick. Priape's Leather salesman who could smell the money in my pocket past the Angel Cologne. ( Either that or he just likes seeing men in leather pants in the store.)
First, Patrick convinced me to try on a lace up crotch pair with a boot cut style leg which was very Lizard king Jim Morrison like and not what I was looking for. Then, two pairs of regular 501 style leather pants. ( One with exposed crotch snaps and the other with an exposed zipper crotch.) both were closer to what I was looking for. But I felt both were too heavy metal Judas Priest-ie like - And I already look too much like the lead singer of that band. And then finally a black hip cut 501 style with a nicer slim leg that, the minute I put them on and looked into the mirror screamed Iggy Pop - Punk and I was sold. An Hour later they were hemmed and I now have a pair of leather pants that I can wear to Sanctuary and maybe even Sin City fetish nights.
I might even dare to wear them at the ACT christmas party with a nice dinner jacket. Ala Sid Vicious when he recorded my way on Video in New York. Hmmmm.....
