Yeah, we haven't spoke before, but I just happened to stumble upon your profile and thought "Jeff Gannon-- was he the singer of an old punk band? An old buddy, maybe? A writer or artist I know? Hmmmm... No. Where do I know him from?"

Then I remembered.

Anyway, I saw your interview on the Bill Maher Show last night. I have to hand it to you with the witty retort about journalists prostituting themselves-- quick, unrehearsed, slightly self-deprecating, re-directing, and funny. Good job of defending yourself. Very impressive. Like Maher said, it was brave to go on the show in the first place.

You've been an SG member for quite awhile. Looks like you've kind of stopped updating since the controversy. How'd you find Suicide Girls in the first place? Do you remember?

I just gave some $$$ to the Red Cross for the tsunami relief effort. Someone on the boards said to look for the International Response Fund at the Red Cross Website.

Go give them a couple of bucks. And if you think you can't afford it, just remember: what goes around, comes around. You'll get it back.

I donated as well. I honestly wish I could go over there and help out, but I haven't found any relief organizations that are flying people over adn I can't afford to fly on my own dollar. But we all do what we can.
calvinbrookfield:
Yeah, Sci-Fi Channel did a massive Twilight Zone marathon. I DVR'd the entire thing, and now I'm watching a few episodes each day until I'm finished. I don't have any of the DVDs, but I want to start getting them. I love those shows.

Thanks! Yeah, I dig my new profile pic. I found it on a google search. The only artists who come to my mind with a certain "retro" style might be Darwyn Cook, Nick Derington, or Brent Schoonover. However, even those three are each distinct from that old '50s-'60s illustrative style... which is so cool.

I want to see THAT movie! eeek

Yeah, I write comic books. But actually, I have another job that pays the bills. It's a secret job. (If you're insanely curious, drop me an e-mail and I'll fill you in.)

As far as writing goes, I'm nothing special. I've published a few stories here and there. And I've got a series coming out in July that I'm working on with our friend Fentopal.

Thanks!

London was okay, though ot be honest, it struck me as sort of a weaker version of NYC. That probably is not entirely fair, but I did see a fucking Starbucks on every goddamned corner. It was nice, to be sure, but when I travel I prefer more exotic locales.

Paris rules. I am giving some serious thought to taking up residence there for a...

Tobey Hooper eh... Chainsaw is my favourite horror movie. Horror isnt really a genre i'm massivly into but you can't ignore that film, it's genius.

I will get some work up online soon, but i'm pretty gaurded about it. I shouldn't be i know but i suppose i'm always strivig to get better and when i look back on stuff i'm uncomfortable showing it. Me and Antenna have talked about doing some stuff together so when i've got the time i might have to follow that lead up. Keep you posted.

I am off to London tonight. 10 days there, with a 2 day jaunt to Paris on Wed-Thurs.

We will be staying with my GF's parents in their apt in Notting Hill, which I am told is a nice place.

Cheerio! And all that rot.

Have a great trip! Don't let the crappy weather get you down.

Lately, I have been fascinated by the thread in which people detail strange but funny sexual pratices. My GF is a little worried that I am now obsessed with "The Donkey Punch." Not so much in doing it, cause I'm not, but more in chasing it down, learning of its origins, figuring out how it fits into human sexuality. My GF says it's a myth,...

Thanks for the b-day wishes!

I think the only ones who would actually be stupid enough to try the Donkey Punch are drunk, misogynistic frat boys who belive anything they read.

Unfortunately, there's probably more of those than you think. puke

4 more years. I want to stick my head in the oven.

Movies this week:
"The Brain that Wouldn't Die"
"Idle Hands"
A collection of 3 Hitchcock movies on one DVD: The Man Who Knew Too Much ( the first one ), The Lady Vanishes, and Secret Agent.

Well, we can only hope for the future, while doing our best to protect ourselves. Lets hope these guys don't get away with too much. Maybe this country needs 4 more years to pull it's head of out it's ass.

Last week, I went to the NYC Horror Film Fest, which was a pretty good time. Though I am completely horrored out at this point. I think I probably saw 25-30 movies in 4 days ( shorts and features ). But I did get to party the night away with Amanda Plummer and Tobe Hooper., Sat. night.

What else? My favorite holiday is this week....

I wanted to attend the Horror Fest. This is definitely my favorite time of the year. I just wish I could see a Yankee WS parade. Here's to the commie convention.

Dude, as soon as I start paying rent again, you've got a place to crash. I was thinking about that scene where the chick falls behind the bar and trying to figure out what blockbuster movie I saw that in. You have that kind of staying power.

"Back to the Future" Unfortunately, you can only buy them as a set now, and the only one even worth watching is #1. See My Blog Entry about Raiders. Much of the same applies to this trilogy.

Speaking of trilogies, yes, I did just buy the Star Wars boxed set. Yes, yes, I know, I know, but come on. Some things in...

I bought the Star Wars Trilogy also. Like you said, had to. And I'm right there with ya as for being busy. I think it is the bain of the programmer.....

And speaking of, I ended up not takint the new job. There was an offer I just couldn't refuse made to me when I gave notice. Just as well... I was lamenting the new commute!
keith:
Thanks for asking!

No, actually, what happened was that they called me in to the big bosses office and the first thing she said was, "Look, we think you're doing a great job. I'm sorry you don't hear it enough, so don't freak out. We're not talking about firing you. You're one of the best auditors we've ever had.."

So it was just a routine disciplinary "what's up with what happened this one time?" thing.

I got the "new & improved" Star Wars trilogy from Netflix this weekend, and I was pleasantly surprised. The only changes I found absolutely abhorrent were involving Jabba. Yuk. But it was nice to watch them crisp and clean in 5.1 channel sound. And I was surprised at what he didn't touch up. All those cheesy old school explosions and things. Not as bad as all the hyper-ventilating.

I bought a great little horror movie out of New Zealand called: The Truth about Demons. Small budget, good ideas and very controlled use of special effects. I got the DVD for $6.

Check it out if you get the chance.

Also, I got one of my all time favorites: Time Bandits.

Oh yeah, and Futurama Vol 4 is on...

Time for an update.

I generally don't write much in this thing, because I don't really feel like my every day exploits are interesting enough to write about. And frankly I feel the same way about most of yours wink

This week's DVD spree yielded:

GUN CRAZY, a noir starring John Dall of "ROPE" fame. Curiously, this little gem is not listing in his IMDB...

Are those $6.99 dvds from the AMC collection? 'Cause that's how much I paid for the Boris Karloff/Bela Legosi one. It's got four movies for both of them. Not the best movies, sure, but still some good ones.

Will do. I thought that there might be some sort of science group around here. smile
